Another day another hate filled message
So I'm thinking of turning on my privacy settings so no one can message me period. Too man toxic entitled survivors raging up a storm over trivial stuff. Now what's the point of this post? Minor vent but just Jesus "camping" really triggers survivors badly like if you are near the hook for over 6secs you are quickly labeled a _"bad player" _and a_ "camper"_ yet these survivors who are rank 1 killers don't even know how to juke and not get caught or run borrowed time_ "oh you tunneled me"_ even though they run in very predictable places and get caught.
It's not their fault they can't juke or run the right perks it's mine of course because I did my job and got two kills out of it. Well that's enough of a vent and I gotta ask should I just set up my privacy settings so that I don't get messages? I mean I will be missing out and I'm sure you are asking "missing out on what?" truth be told there are nice survivors and there is plenty of times I get sent funny messages and I end up making friends but yeah... thoughts? Just write "gg" and leave. If you're a streamer, have your mod(s) ban them. Block anyone who sends you a friend request. Make your profile comments friends-only. Problem solved.

Unfortunately, until the devs start cracking down on toxicity (instead of classifying certain toxicity as "acceptable"), that's the only option you have.

Toxicity is hard to moderate and can really take out a lot of time and I know I've gotta be thick sickened this is the internet but still it wears you down after awhile especially if you had a bad day and it lead up to that.

I know it's hard to moderate, but if you're tolerant toward such behavior, it'll just spread like the cancer it is.

If people know they will likely get a ban for this behavior, it will go from a constant, every match problem to a rare occurance that you can actually just ignore.1 -
I just turned mine to friends only because of to many people not knowing that the rep system is made for people scamming in trade not wether or not you got outplayed by them
¯_(ツ)_/¯0 -
How can they message you anyway?
Am I missing something?0 -
...Seriously?
Why even have it set on "public" if he's that sensitive about what some random idiot will say there?
Either delete and block each of those idiots if you still wanna have people comment there , or make it "friends only".
Mine is set on friends only because I don't care about what random people have to say and don't really wanna bother deleting and blocking people.0 -

That's a dangerous game. People get upset when they lose. If you start banning everyone the second they lose and type an angry message into the chat, you're going to end up with a lot of banned people who feel like 'the devs are abusing their power'. I'm probably one of the nicest killers you can play against (always try to hook everyone twice before killing anyone, do not camp, no annoying/crutch perks, etc.), and I still get angry people insulting me post-game every now and then. That's why we draw a line between "smacktalk" and "excessive insults". Most games will do this as well. I used to play a ton of Battlefield, and if everyone got banned for every little insult, I'd probably be the only one left playing the game.
Personally, I hope one day we'll have chat bans, rather than just complete game bans. That way you could tell someone to stop being a dick in chat without completely banning them from the game. I feel like that would be a better way to deal with it. Misuse chat, lose chat, but you can still play the game.
With that said though, if you feel like someone is crossing that line, report them. Chat logs are saved and can be reviewed.

Yeah, I don't think even one instance of "slit your wrists" is acceptable, but given that people do this and are still allowed to play the game, that tells me the devs deem it acceptable.

It is not acceptable, and that's an example of something that crosses the line. If you come across that, you should report it.
The stuff I'm talking about are things like, "wow, rank 1 and still camping, you suck" or (pardon my language) "######### you looper". We're all adults here- or at least should be given the rating of the game- so we should all be able to shrug off some minor thing like that.

The problem isnt people being toxic its fake rep reports.

I did report it for as long as I cared to keep the chat open. As far as I know, those people are still playing. Now I just close it, and if they come to my stream or try to harass me on Steam, I block them without hesitation or tolerance.
Yes, we can shrug it off once, twice, maybe even 10 times. But 100, 1000, 10000? That's a problem only you (mods) and the devs can fix.
Punish ALL toxicity on the first offense for some time, and you'll see a lot less of it when you ease up restrictions.
