The game is extremely fun, but at its core, extremely boring

The more I think about it, the base model of this game is extremely shallow and boring. All there is, is generators. Sit on a gen, run from killer. Sit on a gen, run from killer. Perhaps gen speed is not the right variable to change, but perhaps the core structure could use something to spice it up. Any creative suggestions? Pretend we are in a perfect world where people wont cry if the old structure is changed.

My idea, borrow some inspiration from other games, such as F13. I enjoy the idea of having to find and acquire different items in order to combine them. Perhaps survivors must find 3 items each and combine them into a toolbox, in order to work on the generators. Each survivor needs their own toolbox built if they wish to complete gens. Toolboxes are not consumable items like normal toolboxes. Because the initial objective of finding parts and making a toolbox takes a decent amount of time, perhaps the survivors only need to complete 3 or 4 generators total, making the process less tedious. Once the gens are all completed, the survivors must follow the power cords to multiple different areas, and pull a lever similar to the exit gate, but with a shorter time. Once all levers are pulled, the power can flow freely, and unlock the exit gate. Depending on how long this all takes on average, hook timers and the amount of hook it takes to kill a survivor could potentially increase, maybe it takes 4 hooks to kill a survivor. I think this would add more variety to the gameplay, and make the matches a bit more longer and interesting overall.

You can condense everything down, remove any nuance, and it becomes seemingly boring.

What is this CS:GO people are playing? you spawn run the enemy and shoot or die, respawn, do it again, respawn do it again, wow sounds so fun!

And this Dota? you pick some dude and go take a point, and another point, retreat a bit, take a point, man this sounds like a good time.

I think the people who are getting bored are the more casual players who don't care about improving and mastering the game.

    One word: Jumping.

Killers. Survivors. Let everyone jump and let's see how things change.

I doubt this. I’m more of a casual but I’ve attained and maintained red rank on both sides. The game has become stale.

Most games keep their community engaged through either game mode rotation, bonus xp, or other events that keep the community rolling. Dbd “events” are boring and more about grinding than actually having fun imo

DbD is a rinse and repeat game. I don’t know about changing the core necessarily, but maybe adding another mode?

A lot of old vets and longtime streamers are getting tired and bored with the game. A lot of it is due to just playing it constantly week in and week out, but a lot of it is because it IS stale. The game was always fairly simplistic in the core game play, depending on perks and killers to add variety. It's at a point where new killers largely just borrow mechanics from existing ones, however, or have minor additions that don't add much. Long term online games need to shake things up from time to time, and BHVR is allergic to the very idea.

The death of dbd won't be in the community, or the nerfs, or anything like that... It'll be because it's the same exact game play as three years ago, and it'll be the same two years from now. No matter how many fail to challenge the leader, there's always going to be new guys trying, and eventually one of them is going to have a fresh take on the formula that makes too many people realize dbd hasn't evolved more than a step or two in years (and that they COULD have been, and that changing things up is actually fun), and THAT will be what finally stakes it in the heart.

I think survivors should have passive abilities on top of perks (with minor buffs/ debuffs)

Example being: Dwight can do gens slightly faster (2/3%) but can't run as fast as, say, Meg.

this would be cool, but then it would mean a meta of survivor characters, which i doubt anyone wants.

also, this would be pretty annoying to balance and play against if you incorporated movement speed/vaulting speed buffs. like imagine going against a team of megs that are extremely good, with a 1-3% faster movement speed buff, as Huntress on one of her worst maps. thatd be extremely annoying and gross

They need to actually make it horror game because it isn't in current state

The only balance I could think of would be to limit the characters in the lobby but that also opens up the perks system/ bloodweb that would have to be reworked cause not all of my survivors have the same loadout/ perks available

    But a man can dream.

New game modes could be interesting. Maybe a mode with 8 survivors and one killer except once ur hooked your dead. Unfortunately this game lacks a development team that cares about the long run. They mostly care about quick dlc bucks and catchy events and characters. Killers could also come out at a quicker rate, I mean 3 killers a year is very boring. I thoroughly enjoy the game and it doesn't get boring to me that often in which case I'll take a break. Honestly I feel that dlcs should come out at a more rapid rate and I'm not talking stupid outfits I'm talking about new characters every other month. Maybe 7 to 10 killers a year with their companion survivors would keep the game more interesting. Idk tho it's a very poorly managed game and I wouldn't be surprised if it DBD isn't around in 5 years. Maybe a dead by daylight part 2 with more modes available would be a good plan but right now it's just a cash cow for behavior.
