Giving killers more speed outside a chase could be a thing?
like APPLY PRESSURE they say, well i cant with a 110 speed killer, i know in short maps this could be game breaking but i dont see why not give a killer a speed bonus outside chases.
the speed must be accordingly the map size
the speed should be gradually removed as more gens gets done. ( to avoid low quantity of gens and super speed)
the speed gets removed in chase
the speed bonus changes from killer to killer
the speed bonus dont apply to killer power (like spirit phase, or wraith with speed addons)
"as the survivors enlighten their way out the killer menace restrains himself to the darkest part of the entity"

Doubt it. You could just chase survivors the same way you chased survivor who has deep wound with old legion

you will need to chase looking to the ground and risking get stuck in a wall and taking all pallet stuns?
you will not see the jukes on scratch marks btw.
after a chase initiate juts put a 80 seconds cooldown and thats good

Aaahhh yes I'd very much like to run all around till I see someone and then get so excited my immortal monster would slow down to chase.
1 -
its this or take 2 gens to first hook
3 -
If you have 80 seconds between chases then that's where your problem might be
2 -
Something, something Entity magic to boost Killer's strength, but something, something Entity also wants a fair chance for Survivors.
Seriously though, the Killers are obviously never allowed to go all out on Survivors. They have their hands tied by The Entity as much as they are giving power by it.
Why else is Hillbilly less than half as fast when not using his Chainsaw? Why don't Killers just close their eyes if someone shines a flashlight at them? Why not throw down all the pallets and break them immediately?
I agree it's a bad idea because they're be almost no way to prevent it being abused, but in the context of the game's lore I don't think it's necessarily nonsensical.

I say just increase all killer move speed by 5%, done.

Maybe give a killer bloodlust 1 when he hasn't been in a chase for a little while, then reset when he gets in a chase

First off, I'm glad you are being constructive and trying to fix the problem, however, I don't like this for two reasons.
Reason 1: You could just moonwalk to catch Survivors very quickly without ever starting a chase with them, like with Old Legion.
Reason 2: This would be another band-aid fix on a larger problem, most maps are too big.
1 -
Not if they fix the broken chase mechanics instead of just destroying other parts of the game just to avoid doing what they should have done years ago.
3 -
But couldn't you just i dunno make it so if your in a certain distance from the killer they won't get a speed boost? granted it's basically whispers but base but hey can't you just make it 20 or even 10 meters

a cooldown will be needed for this trait like 80 seconds, a gen time btween chases idk

Maybe as a perk concept.

I want survivors to run slower outside of chase

This is a real fix, not a bandaid. Bandaids are perks

- Moonwalk
- devs now have to judge which killer gets what % speed bonus, which is a balance conundrum in and of itself
- Map size does not directly indicate a survivors ability to escape
0 -
That's a tricky situation. Say you increase movement speed while outside of a chase.
- That number would have to be fairly high. Something like 5% is not going to make a difference. 5% would be the difference between covering 44m in 10 seconds and 46m in 10 seconds.
- Moonwalking would be exploited to keep this movement speed during a chase. In a chase, whatever bonus you're giving people is massively amplified. Adding an extra 0.6m/s when moving around the map is nice, but not a huge game changer. Adding an extra 0.6m/s when you're chasing someone doubles the rate at which you catch up (if not more, depending on the killer).
I would be very hesitant with that. It would likely be abused.

once you get in a chase you could take a 80 second cooldown, blinded and stunned too. its hard to avoid a stun moonwalking and if you look forward you will get a chase

It wouldn't be fixing the underlying problem, which is the size of the maps.

Doubt that would work that well like many said we would either run into the moonwalking problem, having to deal with the requirement and consider how this influences terror radius or perks like spine chill, which distances are meant to give survivors a specific reaction time for the approaching killer.
I honestly could only see it pulled off well enough if Maps would have something like the Entity's tunnels instead, parts of the map that can only be entered as a killer for shortcuts and faster movement speed within it. But that would mean a complete overhaul of all maps etc. and be a huge change to the core gameplay.

The devs don't see it as a problem yet actually

something has to he done anyway and real quick imo, game is a total mess lately.
I personally wasnt good enough to stay in red ranks as killer but now, even after derank, I keep on being matched with swf red ranks squads.
I ended up totally stopping playing killer, and getting bored easily but endless queues as survivor.
How this is supposed to be fun for everyone?

i did a post about that almost one second ago, its just unfun, i am a survivor player now and thats it

Or shorten some of the larger maps. Less ground to cover so you can find survivors easier with low mobility killers. I think its fair to be able to constantly to some extent feel killer presence on map instead of being on a gen a country mile away and not know who killer is all game. It'll definately make things much less monotonous survivor side.
1 -
someone once said to me larger maps do more gens, but the survivors said it will be unfun, well yeah i agree but i think these person did not play as clown trying to pressure gens in a big map like the nurse one

I'm a strong believer that every killer should have some way to navigate maps faster but not help directly in chases. There are any number of ways they could potentially do this. Map portals or shortcuts could be an example. Imagine playing on Haddonfield and being able to lift up a manhole cover and hop inside on one side of the map and pushing open a manhole cover and popping out on the other? Or maybe if all killers had some kind of hillybilly style sprint but couldn't attack at the end and had a 4 sec stun.
1 -
Well that's also a clown problem, but I see how gen times could be slightly adjusted on some maps with little consequence.
0 -
agreed, and if a game is unfun, there is just no sense to play it.
I personally have stopped already purchasing anything from the store.
I'm keeping my hope up but right now dbd is not something i would invest any money on

Can it not be modified so moonwalking still keeps you in the chase?
0 -
Not without also making it start chases with Survivors you can't see and thus are often not aware of.
0 -
It'd need to be something active that takes time and requires a slowdown to turn off, much like with the Wraith.
Otherwise it requires either giving the Killer free information or giving the Killer movement speed in chases.
0 -
Its why reduced map size would be ideal. Slower killer's presence will be better felt, and high mobility killers like Billy can do well if they don't overcrowd the map with obstacles. Indoor maps should still put them at a disadvantage due to more walls and such.
0 -
The best solution would be decrese movement speed to the killer when moonwalking so it couldnt be exploitable
1 -
Almost like SWF vs killers ;)

The recent increase in map size and the fact that generators are being quickly repaired make some killers difficult to patrol generators.
First of all, does the Dev team understand this?
