A Different Perspective on OP Killers
Anybody that reads on this forum very often knows this is always a much debated topic. I wanted to give an opinion here and see if others agree with me. This is completely anecdotal to what I experience when I play and I'm curious if others have a similar experience.
I don't think there is a single killer in this game that is just straight out OP. However, the map can make all the difference. Here's what I mean. For example - When I play against a Billy on a map with lots of open space he's likely going to get a 3k or 4k. All the open space makes his speed a huge advantage. However, when I play against a Billy on a map like Lery's or something it's quite common for 3 or even all survivors to escape. His speed isn't nearly the same advantage on a map with lots of small areas and narrow pathways. I see the opposite results in my experience with a killer like the clown or doctor.
That's why I never think any particular killer is necessarily OP. I think an argument could be made that any particular killer is OP on certain maps and exactly the opposite on others. Having said that I want to make it clear I am not trying to say we need to nerf this killer or that killer. I've just learned to accept that there are going to be times I end up in a match with a killer/map combo that isn't likely to end well for me, but there are going to be times I end up with a combination that is in my favor too. As I said in the first paragraph I simply want to see if others have the same experience.

I understand that. And again, this is only my personal experience. That obviously makes it anecdotal. Also, I'm only using OP in a vague sense to indicate how it appears certain killers are much better adapted to certain maps than others.

Oh well that's totally different.
Yeah there are some maps that make certain killers significantly stronger yes. Just when those maps and killers do align I think it makes them much stronger, not too strong, which is what I mean when I say "OP".

It would be nice if all killers had a certain lenience by % to a map that would suit their play styles more. Not insanel. But moderately which gets trumped by offerings from either killer or survivors. It would incentives offerings more.
Although I do apprecaite that due to a lot of freddies, billies and spirits survivors may be stuck in a map loop perpetually and that ain't fun. Itt does seem some killers are on maps they just shouldn't be on at all though. Billy and the Game is a prime example. The power is nearly useless without the correct add ons.
but. I'm a crap billy. So I can't talk much.

Maps are kinda dumb with how inconsistent they are. I would rather have inconsistent killers over inconsistent maps.

I guess the way I look at whether or not something is OP is to ask myself "would I play this game if...."
There isn't a single killer in this game that I can say I would never play if they were the only killer (I'm a survivor main). However, using Billy as the example again I can say if every match was Billy on an open map I probably wouldn't have ever played more than a few matches because I simply wouldn't enjoy a game that was an almost guaranteed loss every time you play.
In other words as the game is now I don't think a Billy on an open map is OP. There are gonna be games where a Billy ends up on a map that is exactly the opposite of that. It only seems fair that there will be matches where the map and other things make it a little more advantageous for one side or the other.
On the other hand if every match was a Billy on on open map then I would say he is OP.

And then we have the korn maps. As if killers dont have it hard enough as it is. I guess it helps those urban types. I was one and love the korn maps as a surv.
I dont use urban anymore. It helped me get better though. I wont deny that. Against the old nurse urban saved my hide so many times.

I have a whole long idea about how I would handle the map shortcomings. However, it's an idea they would never go for, so I will just say I also wish they would do something to balance maps out

As a survivor main I had never really thought of it that, but I can see how you would feel that way.

Completely understand. I used urban for a long time when I first started playing the game. I have stopped now, but it was something I couldn't go without for a long time.

Yea many have suggested maps become very similar while killers become what you have to change your playstyle for. I like this idea.

It's interesting you mention Billy, he's my least favorite killer to face.
I don't think Billy is OP at all, but I don't like some of his design. He's extremely polarizing. He's loopable which is what prevents him from being "OP", but if you don't have a loop available you're pretty much SOL. Against a good Billy you are going down if caught too far from a pallet which is what Billy is good at in the first place since he has such great mobility.
That type of play isn't fun to me. I don't like the deciding factor being just if I have a pallet available or not. I don't feel outplayed, I feel cheesed.
I wouldn't want Billy weaker at all, but I'd want his design changed a little.

I completely understand. I wouldn't ask for a Billy nerf, but I also hate playing against him. Especially in an open map. It sucks to be half way across the open area thinking you got away to all of the sudden have him right behind you.

If you read the thread you would realize I actually said I didn't think any killer was necessarily OP in and of themselves. I said certain maps make them a little more OP than others, but I have stated I think that is fair and was not asking for a nerf.

Mobility is the issue. Faster killers are simply going to perform better. That's what they need to address. Be that map size or actual reworks.
