Is tunneling a bad thing to do on Low map pressure killers?
Survivors get obviously pissed off if they are tunneled i get that but i came across this group of survivors which none of them had BT and only 1 had DS (Obviously i didn't know this but i put it together as the game went on) i was playing Clown and got Mothers dwelling. So i could already tell it was gonna be fun i get to the other side and POP gen 1 gone. I think nothing of it and start working on getting a claudette who loops me for a bit until i get her down and POP Gen number 2 gone. So obviously now i gotta start doing something so i start to head off when i see a meg running for the hook so i follow her she unhooks the girl i hit her back down and put her back on and the meg does the hook tech. Well i already knew she didn't have borrowed time so i just smacked the claudette on the hook she unhooked her i hit her back down hooked her again and then went after the meg got her put her on a hook as another gen pops. So i stay in the area because i didn't see anyone with BBQ and a Jake goes for the unhook and basically same thing happens no BT so i hit the meg back down put her back on and she just dcs on hook. I get the Jake put him on as another gens finished but BBQ shows me the kates location and i take her out. Of course in the chat "Oh tunneling and camping clown wow need kills that badly" well it wasn't a optimum map and these were purple rank survivors who didn't even have BT so... They throw me a few other insults like "Get good and don't camp" and stuff like that. I thought i did the right thing tbh if i know someones going for the unhook and i see them should i just let them do the unhook? And even with me constantly getting survivors out they still got down to 2 gens left If the meg maybe didn't dc they might have gotten out. (I'm avoiding making this a ruin post but against a optimum team even if i tunneled they would have probably still destroyed me purple ranks just to easy to get to i guess). And if i went after the unhooker they would have probably escaped tbh.

Use all of your resources to secure a 4k who cares what survivors think?

well it was also the survivors being dumb like the meg who did the hook tech with no BT like what? lol

probably was looking to farm teammates hate people that play like that

Honestly, as annoying as it is on the Survivor-side to be tunneled; it is only their fault for being so desperate for unhooks -- just as you were "desperate" in their eyes for kills. They could have completed more Gens and left their teammate on the hook a while longer instead of rushing the hook knowing what was going to happen - especially if you were nearby. It is completely their own fault. Don't risk the unhook if the killer is camping and you aren't running BT. That's just stupid - do your objectives, cut your losses, and accept that you won't get a 4 Survive.
On the killer side; nothing wrong with it at all as it is one of our legitimate and unbannable strategies - just like slugging.

Like obviously i felt bad for the person she farmed but not much i can do as killer except let the survivor go thats the one thing i maybe would have done differently but with how fast paced the game is if the meg could have distracted me they could have gotten another gen done so *shrug*

I wasnt camping like i said in the thing i was literally walking away when i see meg running towards the hook she didnt even give me like 5 seconds to get out of the area lol.

I will do whatever I can to win. My job isn't to make the game fun for my opponents.

Do u also think that survivors should also use all there resources to secure a escape without thinking about the killer? Or is this a killer sided thing
1 -
Yeah, Survivors are so used to wins and bloodpoints just being handed to them for playing recklessly because it is "fun and engaging" in the Devs eyes; so they don't stop to think about their actions very often. For the most part, they think they deserve a shot at 4 escapes but it isn't fair for the killer to secure a kill or two by some of the only few guaranteed tactics they have. Lol

Dude I'm pretty sure I was that claudette, or else we had an eerily similar game. Meg unhooked me in clowns face, I got downed again and she hook teched me off again.
My answer is I didnt see that as camping or tunneling. My team was trash and you went for the obvious target. Sure I would have preferred to stay in a little longer but, hell, I'm playing a game and you're playing a game. We both want the high score and you had an easier path to it than I did. So gg.

I feel the same sometimes -- but most of the time, I'm a laid-back killer who isn't overly concerned about sacrifices. I still get a lot of bloodpoints (more than Survivor games) just messing around with the survivors instead of rushing down the sacrifices - and many times I still get 3 or 4 kills because the laid-back attitude sometimes breaks the Survivors' guard and they stop trying as hard lol

It's a bad strategy because time spent going after unhooks is less time spent patrolling.
0 -
If they all had ds and BT i would have gotten destroyed lol thats rare though.

Well they were literally feeding me the unhooks while the Kate was pretty much doing gen after gen. What was i supposed to do just walk away from obvious kills handed to me?

if a survivor make a mistake exploit their mistake to your advantage

Tunneling is always a bad thing, the killer should have a wider focus, and hunt down the best target at the time.
Tunneling is when you focus down one survivor even against better options. This results you in losing the game as the other survivors will simply complete generators in that time.

I'd say you did the right thing. If they're stupid enough to trade places for being altruistic as hell, then let them line up for the hook. I won't hesitate to down a survivor who literally unhooks in my face.

Nope you did great

It’s a game I’m in this to win it, if the survivors are going to go 100% I’ll go 110%

Forgot to mention, I also was running kindred because solo queue, so she knew you were nearby

If survivors hook bomb, its 100% on them. I'm not leaving a hook when I see scratch marks or the player in my TR. I'm not leaving a hooked survivor 10 feet from the exit gate in EGC. It makes no sense to leave. Just as you can't complain that unpressured survivors gen rush, you can't blame killers for pressuring EGC hooks, exit gates, and suicidally altruistic survivors. Its really the only thing they can do to secure more hits, downs, and kills.
I don't mind a spicy end game chat, sometimes its more fun than the game was.

Honestly, it can be a good strategic decision, especially vs subpar teams.
But I always think of a Fungoose stream I watched when he was playing with his SWF (no comms, just a very good deathsquad) and the killer was proxy camping/slugging and trying to tunnel someone to death and he said "he's betting on our altruism to win, so we'll just stick to gens". They all escaped pretty easily. Good survivors, especially coordinated ones, will see right through camping/tunneling attemps and demolish you.

in this case is it really tunneling though if they are unhooking like right infront of my face should i go after the unhooker instead even though literally i know i can just hit down this survivor and put them back on?
0 -
oof sorry about that i can't control dumb teammates lol.

Didnt answer my question do you think survivies should run infintes and abuse ds and bt and other op things because they shouldn't care what the killer thinks? it would make u a hypocrite if you think that killers shouldnt care for the survivors fun but survuvors should care for the killers fun (If this post sounds rude i didnt mean it to)

Nah you are good. That meg should be apologizing. Not you. Surprised to see this thread though, am I right that it was me? Black jacket with red trim on claudette and a p2 or p3 meg
You just took advantage of the opposing teams mistake. If you weren't meant to do that then devs would make killers do gens too

You don't require validation for your play style.
So many survivors will use any means neccesary to secure safety and wins, up to exploiting the game. Remember when every single ######### survivor would use hook blocks by just standing in front of it stopping you from hooking. Or even now where they crouch under a hook, so they count as under the hooked survivor so they can't be attacked.
Play by your own sense of honour and rely on your own judgement on what is needed and what you prefer to do. Don't deny yourself on account of people you don't know and let's be real..most of the time will trashtalk you anyway.

No that's not tunneling, chasing the more optimal target is not tunneling. That's just a toxic survivor trying to use toxic mind games to make you play worse. I just had a match where every time I hooked someone the dwight was on my tail to unhook them, then he would proceed to try and body block me. If had body blocked right I would of struck him, but he was not. So I chased the two of them until I downed the injured target. By doing so I eliminated 2 survivors from doing their objectives in a single chase, and made eliminating 1 survivor even faster.
The mistakes of other survivors is not your fault, nor is it your job to cradle the survivors.

i dont pay much attention but maybe it was i wish i saved a pic.

No one shares your definition of tunneling. YOU ARE WRONG. You are justifying toxic behavior by taking off the ugly name. Leave the name on, it's not gonna hurt you mate. No one will take you seriously if you just live in denial.
0 -
guess you two have clashed before?
0 -
Yep we're besties

Its not slugging im just laying the survivors on the ground and just coming to pick them up later and its not camping im just surveying the area while not moving from one spot lol. (In all seriousness i dont think i was tunneling since its not like i chased the person i just smacked them back down and hooked them because no bt)
0 -
Exactly. It's not gen rushing it's just letting my teammates rot while I push gens with my toolbox.
1 -
I always will go for the unhooker in that instant. Like how dumb are you, I am right here. Sometimes I will accidentally hit the hooked survivor in my zest to get the unhooker. When that happens, especially in early game, I will let someone come over and heal the slugged survivor. Now once they are back up, game is back on.
But you also did nothing wrong. They are the weaker survivor, so taken them out was the most optimal kill at that time.

i never go after the unhooked survivor, i go after person than farmed them. Even if it costs me Gens, playing survivor gave me that empathy.
1 -
I play both to just didnt want to risk obviously depiping (even though red ranks on ps4 isnt that good anyway im about ready to stop trying myself) i mean in my mind im playing clown against a red rank team (which there were none but i didnt know that)
0 -
It's not camping if they don't let you leave.
1 -
thats what i thought as well but i havent read the survivor rulebook so idk lol. Maybe i was tunneling instant hitting down the unhooked person though that was my bad i should have just let her go and just destroyed the meg.

Tunneling is a term used in most games, and that's what it means. Literally what you are doing is in the name. Focusing in on one target, and it's frowned upon because the player would do better if they stayed aware of everything in the match instead of letting their emotions get the better of them.
Entitled survivors made up the idea that "it's when you chases someone off hook", because that is just apart of the game, that you gotta deal with - if someone unhooks you unsafely.

Yes you got the definition right that time. Don't change it to fit your narrative please.
