I stopped playing (PS4) shortly before the release of Oni, what is the state of DBD?
Hey everybody, just wanting honest insight into what the general consensus is about DBD. I was heavily invested in it, as was my wife, but we haven't picked it up in a while.
I stopped playing for a while after being harassed by SWFs, but came back after blocking their messages. I stopped entirely for a few other reasons:
- The introduction of the battle pass. I know some people are okay with it but it only serves to remind me that the company wants more money. I have payed probably around $225 for two versions of the game, multiple characters, the pass, and several skins. I support smaller developers, but I always found a pass to be a turn off.
- SWFs: because of course. Many people will find that they have no problem with this and I fine with that. I just think that there should be matchmaking based on enabling SWFs or not. It is inherently not fair that one side gets an advantage in coordination while the other does not. For the record, I solo survivor.
- Balances! Rather than sticking to the basics, it seems like changes to perks are coming too late, are too drastic, or are forcing the meta so tha players are required to play a certain way to win. The most optimal way to survive is with a SWF, running DH, DS, Unbreakable, and BT. So it seems like most survivors are going to run that. I didn't like the predictability of playing survivor, it seems like they get the short end of the stick with creativity. On the other hand, I hate that killers get creativity, but only when playing one of the big three (Billy, Nurse, Spirit last I knew).
The game seems to have become too complex; it seems to have moved away from its core principles. I stopped playing DBD because it seems like it no longer wanted to be a creative horror-survival game. It seems to be much more competitive now, which is so far away from what it should be.
Does anyone here have any thoughts on my post? How do you guys feel about the name? ? Please keep it serious, I really do love this game so please attempt to keep the toxicity out.

Game is the same as it ever was.

Playing killer is more stressful that it used to be, and queues are very long for survivors. The amount of games that end with you feeling like ######### have dramatically increased. I'm running out of patience and I don't expect it to get better anytime soon.

Matchmaking is broken, autoheaven is bugged AH (you go through the floor by the gas station), Ruin got nerfed, killer queue times are 30- seconds vs survivors 5+ minutes, NOED usage has increased a bit ( I'm not against it, me and my usual SWF cleanse all totems so...), Bubbas are camping, Trappers are starting to actually notice the power of a basement build, challenges for killers make you focus on getting kills, challenges for survivors make you waste time in things like breaking 10 hooks.
I think that sums it all

PS4 south Europe here.
The game is currently in a downward spiral fuelled by long queues or very unbalanced matchmaking, gen rushing or slugging with infectious fright at 5 generators, moris and keys every other game, NOED everywhere.
Game mechanics are the same as always though, the Oni update didn't introduce anything too new.

Try playing nurse, that was my only hope at this point really, I’m getting really good with her

If you played killers like Spirit or Billy, almost nothing has changed. If you played a low tier killer like Clown or Trapper, well, good luck. Doctor got a nice buff, devs are planning on changing toolboxes, matchmaking is broken, yeah, that's about it.
