Hook-Tech... Splain.
I know there are some broken ways to unhook by abusing a DS and BT combo so two people can guarantee getting each other off the hook. It only works once but it works every time (as long as there isn't a chainsaw/t3 Myers.)
But everyone mentions "Hook-Tech". Is the above thing the hook tech? If not, what is it? Halp.

Hook tech is where the survivor is under the other survivor on the hook
This is considered a bug as you auto-aim towards the hooked survivor alot and not hit the other survivor most of the time.
DS and BT combo however is not hook tech as it is countered by slugging and downing the BT survivor

I'm curious too. If there is a way to pull this off, BT might need a nerf.

Hook tech used to be when you could clip through the survivor by unhooking for a second, clip through and the killer would hit the hooked survivor, giving you a free unhook. This was recently patched I believe accidentally
Now when the killer is hooking a survivor, you have a small window where you can crouch beneath the hooked survivor and the killer won't be able to hit you. If they swing, they will hit the hooked survivor and give you a free unhooked. This is seen as an exploit and the devs are working on a fix.

You can actually hit people under the hook, you just need to make them mess up. It's very unreliable tho,and you can never know for sure if you'll hit them or not.

For real. Someone tried it on me last night as a slug. Seems pretty advantageous for a killer to have a hook and a slug in one convenient spot. Anyone who tries to hook tech me just gets their teammate camped. I have two people not on gens at that point. Plus a free hit when the hook tech person wises up and realizes their teammate is going to go into struggle state or die

Same, had a game where someone tried to pull that one on me the other day.. I just stood there staring at them, they eventually ran off when they figured I'd camp and let their teammate die if they stayed there, I didn't give a #########, you're there I see you, you're abusing a bug, I'm not going away.

Yes you can camp them but it is SO... BORING! Maybe not boring to those who find enjoyment in camping but I on the underhand don’t find standing in front of hook because the survivor forced me too to be thrilling gameplay.

The point of camping hook tech abusers is not to have fun, it's to show them you're not letting them get a free pass, and their teammate will die because of them.

Yes I know it counters their exploit but at the end of the day it is still boring. I will camp them if they do the exploit but that doesn’t mean I’m finding joy in doing so.

Oh, I'm not arguing that. It definitely is boring. I hate camping. Heck, even when there's only two people left, with gates open and one on hook, if I don't see the second around the hook I'll leave the hook and go look for them, even if that means they both get away. Sometimes they survive, sometimes I find the other guy. But at least I'm actively looking for them, not standing there waiting.

No the BT combo is not countered by slugging because you don't get the chance to slug.
Say person 1 gets hooked and person 2 unhooks them.
Killer downs and hooks person 2.
Now when person 1 approaches. They have BT active and DS as well.
If you hit person 1, BT eats it, he will unhook the other guy and both take off.
If you catch person 1 in the unhook animation, he will DS you and unhook the other guy and both take off (BT still hasn't taken a hit and is thus still active).
Cheesing mechanics. But it works.
The only slug option would be to hit person 1 then be close enough to hit him again after he unhooks person 2 and hope he doesn't have Dead Hard. THEN you could slug him.

Just slug person 2 for like 10 seconds. Problem solved.

And here I was making things complicated. Fair point. I've just never been a fan of slugging because I HAVE to. I don't like to slug in general. So making it an almost requirement to avoid dumb mechanics is kinda not fun. But. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. And that would work.

Yea it sucks how often killers must resort to "unfun" strategies to avoid getting cheesed out, but that's how the meta is for both sides. Use everything you have or get taken advantage of.

Well you have read my alternative posts (at least I'm pretty sure. Your name looks familiar) To try to change some of these cheesy mechanics so it would benefit both sides in a clean way. But. Sadly I'm not a Dev and can't implement what I think would be healthy for the game. I can only suggest it in a forum where it will be ignored lol.

I had someone try to hook tech the other day while injured and I downed them behind the other person. End game chat they said I shouldn't have been able to hit them since they were behind the person on hook and I swung through. I told them they shouldn't be able to be back there in the first place, but here we are. Moral of the story don't use exploits and then get mad when the killer knows how to deal with it.

Nah, they'll probably just buff it for the fifth time.
I've actually never seen a survivor try this on me, but I suppose that's because I'm a Myers main and I could just stalk them.

Wow.. trying to pin this on you "how dare you hit me through my exploit! REPORTED!"

I played as Huntress and as I started the hook animation a Claudette ran under and crouched which put her in between the hooked survivor and the hook and I tried to find a way to her but she waited until I swung and hit the survivor and unhooked during my cooldown. Pretty sure it's a bug but it sucks

Not an exploit but cool story
