Or at the very least not bring the most opressive loadouts you can think of and play as sweaty as can be if you do? Much obliged.

I started smurfing on Xbox because all the killers were going super-tryhard and I wasn't.
My builds aren't oppressive. Lightweight is a bit strong in brown ranks, though.

It should at the very least be against the rules to try and discourage it, but it's not even that. This is the only game like this I know of that openly allows it.

It's when a high skill player purposely goes out of their way to play against lower skilled players. It's often done with secondary accounts. This game uses a rank system that is fairly easy to manipulate.

To be fair, it's better than purposely de-ranking. Sometimes being at a high rank is more stress than it's worth, but you don't want to throw gamesand make others suffer.

and that is against the rules also. Just saying it shouldn't be actively allowed is all. Most games make both against the rules; and make de-ranking difficult as possible as well with changes.

You can't smurf in DbD as long as ranks reset.
What if i quit for a few months? Is that smurfing because i'd be a low rank with good builds?

Yeah, primarily this. But also, rank reset bugged out this month and set people back further than anticipated so a lot of people are going to be more under ranked than they should.

With the current matchmaking there is no sense in smurfing. High ranks are already getting matched against low ranks. 🤷

Siege has countless Smurfs, same with Apex, and almost every competitive multiplayer in existence

I recently play doc with this build.
Perk: BBQ, Distressing, Overcharge, Unnerving Presence
Add-ons: Iridescent King, (the 3 sec aura addon)
Offering: Lery
They can't even get out of T3. And the non-ending screaming... feel so good to be honest
Ps: trust me, they deserve this. In end tally screen it was 4 man SWF (i guess) with all meta perks and all purple toolboxes.

What makes you think they’re smurfing, are they clearly more skilled than they should be for the rank? What rank are you? Survivor or Killer?
This, I was rank 1 survivor and rank 5 killer I ended up at 10 and 13. Then I didn’t get to play for the first day after reset so when I got to play yesterday a lot of people had moved out of yellow/green already and I was left with easy 4K, I let people have hatch first couple times til I figured it was better to take all 4K to double pip and move up faster
And finally this too, even if people don’t smurf I see rank 12s getting matched against red ranks anyways

I de-ranked ahead of reset because I wanted to play a new killer and actually have time to learn them as opposed to staring at teabaggers at the exit gates in 30 seconds. Then the reset bug hit which made it that much easier. Thanks devs.

Is it considered smurfing if I always let the last survivor go? I try not to rank up much because as soon as I hit rank 9 or 10 on ps4 all I get is red rank survivors...

No real point of smurfing since you're going against red ranks either way but I sort of understand smurfing if you want to try a new killer.

It's not smurfing if you take some time away. But dont bring your op loadout. You know the one you would use to play against red ranks.
If my rank resets to far I play perkless until I get to a more even competition.
Crushing noobs is unfun and unfair. And only feeds one's own ego.

I have multiple Smurf accounts.
One for killer that I never used so I'm now playing on for the solo q no perks/items challenge
One for drunk by daylight which involves perk roulette with my friends and I.
And one that never gets used but made to make fun of my friends GT.
I enjoy Smurfs because it's great to go casual and meme. Never bully the babys though

Ive ended up way too low now because before reset I was learning new killers and screwing around now because of the over rank reset bug I’m playing with people wayyyy to low.
I just play weird stuff and don’t do anything “toxic,” then I generally let the last person have hatch

I've still gotten messages from killers cuz even without these perks or meta perks I can still loop. You can tell on Xbox when they are Smurfs and I always apologise if it came across as bullying... Just hard sometimes to kick your looping skills and jukes, I'd say half the time on my drunkbydaylight account I'll let the killer kill me, I'm just here for lolz.

Rank reset was 2 days ago and from what I gathered it was pretty strange. I for one went from rank 3 to 11. So you are probably encountering people who were red ranks just a day or two ago. I think they messed up the reset system or changed because people kept complaining "anyone is on red ranks now", which was never true.
