Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

How the heck do you get a "Protective Hit"?

I've been trying to do the few challenges that require a Protective Hit and I can barely ever get one, let alone two or more for some of those challenges.

Anyone have any tips on how to get these damn things? I've tried taking hits on purpose while around other survivors and I get nothing. The Internet Dot Com isn't terribly useful when I try to Google it so I'm hoping someone has some useful advice/info for me...

Try using empathy to be close and then taking hit when killer carries a survivor.

Get hit while healing someone, or get hit while someone is being carried.

Easiest way to get those is to force the Killer to take a hit by blocking the hook while they‘re carrying a Survivor.

Taking a hit while someone else is being chased works too but it‘s inconsistent and doesn‘t count sometimes like you said.

Whilst the killer is carying a survivor (on their shoulder), get them to hit you. If you need 2 hits make it easy on yourself and bring a medkit & styptic agent; can take 2 hits in a row.

If they are getting chased you can intervene by getting in the killers way. Most will not turn down a free hit. This is another way you can get it i think.

...huh, that seems like an incredibly useless "protect" but that seems to be the verdict considering how many people have already said that in the three seconds my thread has been here :D

Seems like a very useless hit to take since I'm not really protecting anyone, I'm just momentarily inconveniencing the killer while they carry someone to a hook but if that's what it takes, so be it. That does explain why some people stand on the hooks like that though, I always thought they were just being trolls :D

    Thanks Peeps!

The survivors have to be injured. If they're healthy, it won't grant a protection hit score. Or just take a hit while the killer is carrying someone.

That was from my experience anyway.

I think you have to be hit within 10 meters of an injured player or something like that

You need to be close (within a few meters) of an injured survivor and take a hit. This also works if the killer is carrying someone, so the easiest way to get them is to get in front of the killer and force them to hit you when they're trying to hook a survivor.

You can also do this at the exit gate as you're about to leave. If the killer is chasing you and other out the gate and someone else is injured, take the hit and you'll get the protection points.

See, that's what I had tried at the end game and either I did it wrong or it didn't count it :(

It seems like the only (reliable) way to get it to count is to get smacked while the killer is carrying someone. Which is kind of super annoying seeing that you're not really helping the situation (unless the survivor being carried happens to only need a few more seconds of wiggle to escape) but whatcha gonna do?
