You know where the killer is. So if you break a pallet or kick a gen you onow where they are and since the aura lasts about 5 seconds you’ll have an idea of which direction they’re heading.

It's not useless, but it isn't strong either. Usually if you are in a chase you can already see if the killer starts breaking a pallet. And if you are not in a chase it probably doesn't do you a lot of good seeing that the killer broke or kicked a gen a mile away, other than maybe a tiny bit of relief knowing they are not close enough to smack you for at least a little bit if they decide to come your direction.

If you have nothing else I'd probably try running it.

Like many survivor aura reading perks, it's highly underrated in my opinion. Killers break generators and pallets a lot more often than you might think, and being able to see their aura for five seconds every time they do gives you a lot of information. You know exactly where they are and what they're doing, and you can even guess whether they're in a chase or not (most of the time, killers kick pallets while in chases, and generators while patrolling). It can also be useful while looping, knowing whether or not a killer has stopped to break a pallet or not and which direction they went in afterwards.

Because so much of survivor gameplay relies on predicting the killer's movements, having that kind of certainty is very helpful in basically every situation. It's definitely far from a slot waste - I'd advise you to give it a go for yourself, and see if you think it's for you.

Its a cool perk for stealth builds. When you are doing a gen and think the killer is coming towards you just hide, they will almost always kick the gen if its worked on and no one is around and now you see their aura.

I frigging love Alert. I use it on many of my builds. It is a great information perk, especially if you are trying to play stealthy and keep away from the killer. You either always have an idea where they are or you know it is a stealth killer because you get the sound notification when they kick something even if you dont get the visual cue. It has helped me many many many times.
