PS4 - Beta Testing
Hello
Sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask but, how does one become a beta tester?
Thanks

DBD isn't in beta anymore, so I assume you mean the PTB. It's accessible to everyone who plays the game on Steam, but only to them. It can't be accessed from PS4 or any other console, or even from the Windows Store on PC.
The reason for this is because the PTB is run through the Steam beta program. Certain software limitations make it very difficult to do anything similar on consoles. The devs have stated that while they would love to be able to make the PTB available to console players, it simply isn't possible at the moment.

Thanks for answering so quickly.
That makes sense. I can only imagine that the only way this could be possible for consoles would be if PSN had a beta list for each game in which the developers can add/remove gamertags to allow testers to access and install a beta version of the game. I'm guessing someone has already thought of this idea maybe? :)

I don't know personally, but it's possible that the developers have looked into it. You can always make a post about it on the Feedback and Suggestions subforum in case they haven't thought of it already, since they do regularly go through the posts in that category and pick up any good ideas they find there for internal discussion.

That concept is hard to really say for sure, since we don't know how limiting consoles are to do something like this.
We don't know for sure, and since the console version hasn't done anything like this, it's safe to assume it's not possible... at least right now. There could also be a reason behind the scenes as to why the Steam version on PC only gets beta testing, probably because of it's ease of access to set-up, but it could be something else.

They seriously NEED a PTB just for console too. The game plays a lot different there then it does on PC...

Hopefully you guys will see something like that in the future, but it's been years since console was release... so I personally think it has something to do with the current consoles limitations at the moment.
We don't entirely know why a PTB isn't in console, but I believe it has something to do with not being able to access it on console from a beta tab, which steam has because it's on a PC and not console.
But we'll have to wait and see, a lot of console players want this but it's unknown if it can even be done.
