Removing ranks isn't bad. It is very good overall. (Peanits is hot)
They aren't hiding that they have poor matchmaking or forcing the game more casual. They are addressing queue times and removing the aspect of perceptively 'unfair' games based on rank differentiation.
This change will speed up matchmaking, especially at the start, once the MMR system has been put into effect. Also, there may be plans to have different MMR for different killers, so you can try out and learn new ones before you are playing against the same level enemies as you do with your best.
Those who have said rank is a joke, anyway, wether it's because they just don't care or that higher ranks are overpoluted with lower skilled players, should rejoice. Or not. You guys didn't care much to begin with.
To be clear, ranks aren't being removed from the whole game. You get to see what rank you are. No one else does and it won't effect who matches against you soon enough as it's replaced with a hidden MMR system. I guess that's cool? Brag to yourself.
If they find another way to reward players who do care about rank in a similar was as before, which was a number/color combination, then I don't see how these changes are negative at all.
Recently people have been going out of their way to see the bad side and only that side when looking at just about any changes the devs make to DbD. At least think about the positives guys!
Oh, hi Peanits.

MMR separate for killers would be beneficial to all players. I can try other killers more without fear of getting stomped on till i reach yellow. And there would be a broad spectrum of killers.
More killers in different ranks. Less que times.
