As a green-ranked killer, why am I playing against 3-4 red ranked survivors?

It makes no sense. I admit I'm not great at the game, but why am I being matched up against some of the best players out there? It's not fun or interesting for either of us. You shouldn't be able to be matched against more than 1 survivor that's 2 colors ahead of you in rank.

I agree with you but most people are just gonna tell you to “ git gud “ or just to play another game

I agree, and same thing happens for survivors. The matchmaking system is totally crap right now for both sides.

A combination of a few things:

    1. Ranks don't mean the same thing for survivors and killers. Ranking up is MUCH easier for survivors than killers. Thus, even if there was a perfect 4:1 survivor to killer ratio, there would be too many red rank survivors to just go against red rank killers. As a side note, this does mean that there's a serious disparity in the skill of red rank survivors. I'm a mediocre survivor at best, and would probably get to red ranks at my current skill level if I played enough. But there's also the super sweaty 4 man swfs, so (as a green/yellow rank killer) some games against 4 red ranks I'll 4K, others I won't get a single hook.

    2. Player distribution is not the perfect 4:1 ratio. Based on my own experiences with que times, most of the time there aren't enough killers for all the survivors looking for a game, so often matchmaking will sacrifice balance for speed.

Ranks dont matter anymore. It's a mmr system now ain't it.

They are likely in your mmr range

Because lack of killers. They throw in everyone together to make queue shorter for survivors

Not enough killers playing. When the gen speeds are so screwed and the survivor tools are so strong that you have ZERO chance to win against a top team, there is no point in playing the game. When you have a dev team that basically tells killers to git gud or play something else, there is no point in playing. When game breaking survivor bugs get fixed instantly, but game breaking killer bugs take months/years, you tend to piss off your veteran killers.

I was a rank 6-8 killer that got nothing but rank 1-2 teams, but rank reset sent me all the way back to yellow ranks. This was a blessing, because in the 10-13 ranks, I am playing against rank 5-10 survivors, which I stand a far better chance against.

The MMR changes haven't gone live yet. I don't think they will until the mid chapter update.

Man, this is really upsetting that the matchmaking is so janky.

I certainly wouldn't mind waiting a bit longer for a game where I actually get to play, and I imagine that red survivors would have exponentially more fun if they could at least play against a purple that would get two or three downs throughout the course of the game.

What bothers me more is that the DC penalty system compounds this issue. When I'm playing against survivors that take minutes to get a down on, I'm hardly "playing" the game, and there's really no reason why the game should be forced to be played out. Let us concede when we know we're beaten, survivors get to do it without issue the moment they're hooked :/
