wait, people can hear footsteps?!
I only hear gruntings when people are in pain.
ive never heard Footsteps before? Why cant i hear footsteps when people say they can hear footsteps? no wonder i never know where the survivors go

You are supposed to hear them, but now background noises are so loud that you wont hear them anyway

You can only hear footsteps when there are no louder noises covering them up, like chase music. And they're hard to hear if someone is moaning. Usually I can hear other healthy survivors, or the killer if they don't have a terror radius.

Not really a bug, more just the devs keep changing and messing sounds to the point where killers can't hear footsteps, breathing, etc anymore unless you have a really good headset. And since the devs consider killer problems a lower priority, it's been left like this for awhile.

Footsteps haven’t really been that useful since late 2018. The Legion update completely blew the sounds.

Chase music has never done anything but help survivors get away from me. Cant think of one time where it helped.

Anyone ever had chase music come on as a killer and not know where the survivor is?

dude, i NEVER know where the survivor is if i cant physically see them. ive lost survivors right in front of me.
i was being told to listen for the footsteps when i get blinded, but i cant really hear any footsteps so thats a useless suggestion i received lol.
The pain noises helps immensely when i try to locate people, if i could hear footsteps, it would be so great

Devs attempted to shadow nerf sounds when the plague or legion came out i can't remember what one.
They accidentally went the wrong way and killers could "easily" hear survivors breathing, grunts, groans and footsteps during chase.
Survivors cried and cried and also did the usual "I'm a killer main and i think this is bad" post (because you can't check achievements on here) so the devs instantly caved because their survivor cash flow was in danger.
The next update they said they ADJUSTED sound, note that they didn't say they FIXED the sound bug.
And here we are... silent survivors ever since.

It’s hard to hear footsteps over chase music but you can’t DEFINITELY hear footsteps loud and clear while phasing with Spirit since she requires a quiet background in order to hear.

It feels like I hear survivors breathing more than I hear their footsteps. Neither of which I hear very frequently.

In fact, the rustle of grass is very audible. And also running and steps on some stone or wooden surfaces. But only with complete silence.
