Nobody Needs The Deathslinger To Pull People Over Pallets
I've seen quite a few people suggesting that he should be able to pull hooked survivors over pallets, and honestly I don't think that's a good idea. As I've said in other discussions, pallets are one of the only defenses a survivor has against a competent Deathslinger, and even pallets aren't that safe. If it's a safe loop then all the Deathslinger has to do is run it until there's enough time to get in a quick shot while both him and the survivor he's chasing are on the same side of the loop. I've done it plenty, and it works just fine if you land it. If it's an unsafe loop then you can shoot them once they drop the pallet, and walk around the short side and hit them. That one doesn't always work, but I've found it works more than it doesn't.
And without pallets what do you have to escape him? Windows are already unsafe, as he can hit you through them if you're hooked, and getting hooked is pretty easy. Your only other option is to break line of sight, which isn't even always possible. What a change like pulling survivors over pallets would do is eliminate the only thing keeping a survivor from the Deathslinger's bayonet, and eventually a hook. Giving him the ability to ignore pallets like that would make him near unstoppable once you're in a chase.

Your recommended strategy would be reasonable if he was a 115% killer, but he's not.
The counter play is avoiding the hit in the first place which is reasonable since he's 110% and his hit box is much less forgiving than Huntresses.

Why would it only be reasonable if he was 115%? I'm literally describing what I do with him right now that works for me.
4 -
Because at 110% you are wasting a lot of time getting both you on the same side enough to where that is reasonable.
4 -
While I agree on the pallet thing, however, I do believe he’s weak, Death Slinger should be the same level as Huntress but with a different play style, the buff I would recommend is to allow his power to down injured survivors.
2 -
Okay, again, I'm literally describing what I've personally done in game that seemingly works, so I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to say.

I would totally take that option as an alternative, either one.
I also think his hitbox needs a slight improvement. This isn't because his smaller one is bad, but because it's currently getting screwed by the ping with dedicated servers and it needs to be slightly larger to compensate for the delay.

Can he not already down injured survivors with his power?
0 -
No, he can't.
2 -
Wait, why am I even asking, yes he can. Hooking the survivor itself won't down them, but it shouldn't. What would you even do, reel in their downed body? Once you hook a survivor, reel them in, and hit them, then they go down.

It is just ptb, people meme around, nobody takes a game serious on the ptb.
From what I have seen all you need to do is keep an eye on that killer for when he aims so you juke the shot. 110 no map pressure at all. He is c tier maybe.

I agree. I need him to be able to shoot and down survivors. Forget about the reeling part

So, by your logic. Huntress is too powerful and unstoppable in a chase? I mean, she can do everything he can, and on top of that hit you from the other side of a safe pallet. It's easy to do, I've done it plenty of times. Why would giving him, who's entire playstyle is about reeling a survivor in, the option to pull a survivor over a pallet make him overpowered? He has no map pressure, his shots are easy enough to juke by keeping an eye on what he's doing and it's not like he can chase you very well without the power since he's a 110% ms killer.
Honestly, I think either making him 115% ms, with longer reach and a slightly stronger chain or making his aim speed a bit slower and giving him the ability to either break pallets while someone is chained/pull them over the pallet when they're injured (just like a grab) are the main two ways I feel he can be changed to a respectable level and would not make him overpowered. The latter, i would like to note, would force him to take a Decisive Strike if the survivor had been tunneled at all.

Yeah he would be 10x better if he injured on contact with his harpoon then down you if he got you, but wiggle timer would be quicker

I'm one of the people that moved that suggestion, I think it's still too early to know if this is a must or not, but it doesn't really matter since Devs would have to add new animations for the survivor, it's unlikely they will do it in the short term.
However, a big QoL improvement that would also be a slight buff is to be able to break pallets while hooking someone. Of course, what would happen is that as soon as the killer starts the break animation, the survivor breaks free uninjured.
This would also add an interesting synergy with Brutal Strength - you basically would be able to break pallets very optimally, but not guarantee a hit per se.

If Huntress can harm people over pallets and no one thinks its game breaking i dont see any problem with Deathslinger being capable of dragging people over pallets (it doesnt even guarantee a hit too)
3 -
Why not?
I had a perfect suggestion for this.
The deathslinger should pull survivors through pallets to break them.
This causes an effect similar to the chain breaking. His chain breaks, deathslinger gets stunned for a few seconds. The survivor walks away with a mend timer BUT the pallet is destroyed.
this is totally fair

What makes you wanna buff an already incredibly powerful killer? You want another Freddy / Spirit that auto-kills everything with no input?
1 -
Agree with OP, Pallets are intended to be his weakness in chase, he already has incredible chase potential and this would just make him even stronger in an area where he does not need any more help.
Deathslinger really struggles on larger maps where the team splits up, matches can be pretty much unwinnable against coordinated teams on the right map; if he needs any help, its here.

The Deathslinger should be able to break pallets with M1 if they have a survivor speared.
Blight got a similar upgrade

all killers need to be buffed to be able to handle SWF
either nerf SWF or buff killers.
it's a fair compromise considering deathslinger is very weak against coordination like Nos37 said.

... Or you can just bother to try to put a minimal effort in which usually translates into 4k all games.

He’s one of the best killers to go against strong survivors. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t get a 4K as him. Unless I gave somebody the hatch or cba to slug to stop the last survivor getting the hatch. He doesn’t need any buffs.
0 -
lol no he's not.
he has very little gen pressure and is only good at taking survivors out 1v1.
he isn't spirit, nurse or freddy. He's nowhere near their level and he gets cucked at pallets which is what is preventing him from competing in red ranks
not to mention majority of his add-ons are complete garbage.
1 -
I perform better as him than I do with the other killers you mentioned. I can create constant pressure because I get downs fast. My last game of the night last night ended with 5 gens still up and everybody got hooked 3 times. This was an entire team of rank 1’s all using DH etc. For me, he’s the strongest killer in the game and nothing will change my mind on that.

People actually want the most oppressive killer chase-wise buffed? Imo he needs a trade off, a straight up buff would make him even ore miserable to play against than he already is.
1 -
I'd rather he had an add-on that could break pallets with his M1 when reeling in a survivor. They still get away, but the pallet gets broken. Similar to how Demo, Oni and Blight have quick-break mechanics, but it takes up an add-on slot.
