Remove/Rework "Obsession"

What does being the Obsession mean to surviviors?

There are a lot of perks that MAKE a survivior the "obsession", but nothing else. There are only a few perks that apply ANY effect to this condition. So what are the real benefits and downsides of being the Obsession?

Benefits:

  1. Increased range of aura reading of Object of Obsession by 12/8/8 meters
  2. Increased altruistic action speed by 33% (Dying Light, killer perk)
  3. Immune to Dying Light action speed penalty
  4. Increased chance of killer dropping the chase (Play with your Food, killer perk)
  5. Recives an ability to see killers aura for 3/4/5 seconds every time a generator is completed (Rancor, killer perk)
  6. Immune to Remember Me Gate opening penalty
  7. Decreased chance of being hit with a basic attack (Save the Best for Last, killer perk)
  8. Other surviviors know when you are in a chase

Downsides:

  1. Increased range from which your aura can be revealed by Object of Obsession
  2. Recieves killers Terror Radius when hit by a basic attack (Dark Devotion, killer perk)
  3. Reduces killers Terror Radius in chase when you are hooked (Fruitive Chase, killer perk)
  4. Increases chance of being chased (Play with your Food, killer perk)
  5. You are Exposed and can be Killed once all generators are complete. (Rancor, killer perk)
  6. Increases chance of being hit (Remember Me, killer perk)
  7. Increased chance of being targetted while Exposed (Save the Best for Last)

So, as you probably noticed already, being an obsession gives you more benefits than it has downsides, (except rancor), and most of the perks have neglible effect anyway.

Make obsessions great again! There in only 1 survivior perk remaining that gives you any effect for being the obsession.

Devs, I think you have to RETHINK this mechanic, as it has almost no impact on the survivior gameplay (except Rancor, Remember Me and Dying Light).

Sole Survivor is a benefit only obsession perk, even though it does not work for some reason.

but the Obsession does need a perk that punishes the obsession more as almost no perks afflict the obesssion in a bad way.

Being an obsession or not does not affect Sole Survivior in any way, hence its not included. I was talking only about obsession exclusive effects, and honestly it has more advantages than disadvantages and it makes no sense.

Yeah if you are the obsession, something needs to be done to make the obsessions life a harder time

I'd like to see something outside of just perk/add-on effects that make being the obsession feel different to the general survivor experience. They can't really delete the obsession mechanic because it's important to a lot of (mostly killer) perks, but something should be done to make it more interesting/scarier for the obsession survivor.

Obsession can be mori'ed after the second hook would be a nice change, imo.

I wouldn't have an issue with the Obsession not really being a downside, except that the devs have stated it as in fact being a downside to using a perk. Being the Obsession is not a downside because of a chance that the killer is running a perk, that's ridiculous.

It either needs to actually have a realistic downside at base game or the perks that consider becoming the Obsession a downside need to actually be given a downside.

It's kind of like the joke about something the survivors can do being too easy or too strong so they slap a skill check on it...oh now it's super difficult and risky (sarcasm). That's kinda the same impression I get with Obsession these days being used as a "downside".
