Bugged Grabs?
Has anyone else been experiencing bugged grabs recently? I play on PS4 and whenever i go for a grab off a gen or totem, my character will do the hand reaching animation and stand still for a few frames but the survivor runs away? Its happened almost every time I have gotten a grab.

I personally haven't. I don't grab much, but it's been working just fine for me. Sorry to hear yours has been glitching! Are you sure it's not just the survivors managing to wiggle out of your grasp?

I've experienced this quite a bit. I think the devs nerfed grabs and hex ruin to make the game more beginner friendly.

I personally haven't. best nespresso capsules for lattes

It has something to do with latency and the Survivor letting go of the M1 button right at the same time you attempt the grab. They need to be holding the M1 button firmly for this to work, otherwise they can time it and let go right when they know they'll be grabbed.
Sometimes that does work for the Survivor, other times it doesn't and they get grabbed. But if they do let go right when you attempt to M1 grab them than they'll be able to avoid the grab and instead just get hit with a regular M1 attack. (Or in your case, a R1 basic attack I believe).
It's an already known issue, so i'm sure you'll find plenty of people who've experienced it, myself included. The issue isn't also version exclusive, it can happen on PC where I play, PS4 for you, or Xbox players for others, same with Switch I believe but I don't hear much from that version so idk.

for months now. It's dedicated servers. To be clear, the survivors see you, and go away, but for you with the bit of latency, they still were on the gen (about to go away) when you clicked on that grab button; since the survivor was already "away" on their side, you'll just stand there for a second, see the survivor run, and the game will interrupt the grab.

I don't think Dedicated Servers caused it entirely, but I believe it's a factor that keeps it going.

Have the hitboxes for grabs gotten smaller? what would've been a gen grab a while ago no longer counts and only registers as a normal hit.

That's not a hitbox change, that's just a latency issue that happens sometimes in-game.
When a Killer presses M1 to grab a Survivor, and that Survivor lets go of the M1 button at the exact same time, it'll sometimes cancel the grab animation and instead revert to a normal M1 basic attack.
It doesn't have anything to do with hitboxes.

it has been happening to me in the last couple of days, idk before then cos i just started to get into killer again. i'm sure it has nothing to do with servers either.
edit: i'm on ps4 too

Pretty sure it does have to do with the servers and the overall latency that happens from time to time.
I don't remember either if this happened before Dedicated Servers came out, but when I first played this never happened at all. So it's either something from before DS's was added or it's a side effect of Dedicated Servers, just like how Dead Hard was affected by DS's before.

the reason why i thought it had nothing to do with the dedicated servers, is because usually you can kinda tell when there is latency in the game. during these certain matches where it looks like i should have made a grab, there hasn't been bad latency any where else during the game play.

I don't remember anything like this before Dedicated Servers rolled around, and from the looks of it, nobody else does either. So the logical thing is that the DS's is causing the issue, just like the issue with Dead Hard when DS's was new. I feel both of those issues are quite similar.
All in all, BHVR is aware of the issue, so we might see it fixed in the future... maybe.

well what ever the reason is, it has happened to me again, twice in the last week or so. what happened this time is killer looks like it's picked up surviver, you see an invisable blur where the survivor would be infront of chest, lifting over the shoulder, at the same time you can clearly see that the survivor wasn't picked and he's walking past you

Yes, the issue is still prominent right now, there isn't much you can do about it until it's fixed. It was discussed in another thread that that the issue stems from DS's, and it seems to be a separate issue that needs to be taken care of over time.

hmm, i can't remenber a 100% now but i'm pretty sure the guy i did it too, i didn't tunnel. i'll keep this in mind and see how it goes if there's another time

Tunneling doesn't have anything to do with it, it's just an issue with the latency of the grabs in-game. This means it might look like you grabbed them on your screen, but on their screen they let go of the M1 button a bit before you attempted to grab them.
This can also happen when you both do it at the same time, the game can't handle it sometimes and it just gives a "false positive". Without sounding too confusing, it's basically still an issue and needs individual care to get fixed. When that is, I don't know.

i got the tunneling bit from when ds were mentioned
edit: just clicked lol, ds stands for dedicated servers not decisive strike
oh my gosh! lmao

Simple mistake, that's why I sometimes say Dedicated Servers before I abbreviate it into DS's.

The exact same thing has been happening to me recently, too. Especially on windows. I'll go to grab someone from the window and I do the animation, but they get away for free. It really ticks me off.
