The Dark Times Return
This upcoming patch will, in my opinion, usher in a new Dark Times.
The Sabo changes are insanely mind boggling if they go live, problematic perks on both sides are still unaddressed after months, sound and gameplay bugs still run amok, perk loadouts are often copy/pasted from match to match, gen speeds are untouched, the toolbox reworks are deceptively portrayed as a "huge nerf," and the new killer/exciting reason to play is turned into a 110% M1 killer by using a wiggle macro.
I'm legitimately concerned about the game's future :(

High-key same. Maybe it will get better now that attention can shift from the mobile version.. but maybe not.

The sabo change just seems insane and out of touch to me. Killers already have to work to locate, chase, and down survivors - now they want to heap even more potential hardship on the hooking part besides the flashlight and body blocking that already goes on.

I love the upcoming changes! 😍
Sure, there are things wrong, but you can't expect everything to be perfect and mostly what you said is based on your opinion.
The dark times, in my opinion, is an exaggeration because the game has changed a lot from launch (and for the better)!

Some of it has changed for the better. Some for the worse. Currently these changes and this killer seem like nothing really good for the games health or fun. Back at launch, there was no DS. Back at launch there was infinites, but there was no pallet looping. Back at launch the survivors only had a minute on hooks before they died, now they have 2.
4 -
They should nerf sabotage and buff flashlights more. I want three flashlight tapes together that blind the killer instantly for 5 minutes straight.
But seriously how is going from 180 charges to 30 a disguised buff to toolboxes?

I think the devs need to stop working on adding new content and focus on balancing what is already here. New killers, survivors, maps are nice and all but id rather they address some of the core issues mentioned already. Take away some resources from drawing in new players and invest it in keeping the ones you already have. Some youtuber described this game as a revolving door. New people coming in veterans going out and I feel that's the perfect metaphor for dbd.

I'm waiting for them to pull another 1.9.2.

I only disagree about the toolbox changes, they are certainly for the better. A Commodious can last an entire game currently, but after the changes it won't even last for a full gen if I'm not mistaken.

Now we finally see why they made MoM able to activate twice lol.

From what I can recall during the PTB the reason for the Sabotage rework was to help compensate for the Toolbox rework.
For those unaware, toolboxes will have very few charges (16-32) but in exchange will repair faster. This translates to toolboxes acting like BNPs instead of what we have now. So, with no changes to anything else, this makes killers MUCH stronger than they are now as Pop Goes The Weasel can easily delete an entire toolbox's boost off of a generator. So in order to give the survivors a chance to counter this they buffed Sabotage. Last I checked it seemed to be rather balanced to be frank. (Legion pun intended.) Since hooks spawn relatively near each other it takes a coordinated sabotage effort to deny a hook with Saboteur. Furthermore hooks will at base respawn within 30 seconds from what I have heard so you can just drop a survivor and wait at a hook for the time at the worst case scenario.
It just seems like the devs are finally trying to shake up the gameplay. Now generators will go slower and hooks will be more common, but now survivors have tools to affect this (Sabo if the killer tries to hook, For the People if the killer slugs.). For once, survivor and killer gameplay is changing and adding a new exchange to the routine Loop and Hook we have now.

What parts in particular would you state are based solely on ITALICS FOR EMPHASIS "my" opinion?
1 -
Can we just appreciate Trapper buffs?

The hook timer was put to 2 minutes as the gen times changed to 70s and then 80s. They were 40s when it was 1 minute. The two go hand in hand so camping isn't as viable 😉.

This "everything is fine" mentality is precisely why map design is horrid.
We should be holding the devs' feet to the fire not praising them.
15 -
I wouldn't be surprised if they do. At least Doctor's getting some pretty good add-on buffs in addition to having just got a great rework.

Oh the devs are by no means perfect. Whoever originally designed Coldwind farms was just mad. See-through jungle gyms, harvesters were once super safe, cornfields blind some players beyond all hope. Not to mention Thompson House second floor used to be so safe you couldn't get hooked if you were downed up there.
I'm just saying that the sabo changes are not the end of things.

Jesus christ, the new patch hasnt even released yet
WE ARE STILL ON PTB PEOPLE, CHANGES STILL CAN BE MADE
Stop exaggerating, your "play victim for upvotes" posts are starting to get really annoying.

If you are capable of creating a topic that engages the community and promotes discussion through multiple users of varying backgrounds and opinions, you, too, can get some of those delicious upvotes.

The only thing this Sabo change will do imo is restrict builds even more. Now I'll probably have to use iron grasp/agitation/Mad Grit or hang man's trick.
4 -
I'm interested to see if there will be an alternate rework of Hangman's Trick, as the original PTB version is apparently not going live.

At least Ruin is useless and not taking up a spot anymore.
0 -
Probably do something like expose a survivor that sabotages a hook more than 50m from the killer for 15 seconds.
0 -
Some guy on the PTB forum ran the numbers.
It probably won't be too bad, as the add-ons are lost, but they seem really strong when stacked with PT.
0 -
Also back at launch, there was no bloodlust! So any survivor with a brain wouldn't get caught!
2 -
That's a bit dramatic.

Your thread title because I believe Dead by Daylight is in one of its best states when you consider the past! 😁

I'm not protecting the developers.
I just don't want people to pretend they DON'T care about the game when obviously they do.
It's like they mess up one time, "Dark Times"
However, they do many things right, "It's not good enough or late enough"
I want people to be happy that the developers care enough about us to try. People just see it as the developers do everything to upset people when they try because they love the community. 🙂
1 -
I love how people think everyone is a SWF death squad that will abuse the sabo changes. Mark my words, the perk will barely be run just as much as it is today.
3 -
please keep in mind everything we've seen so far was PTB material and is subject to change.
they do the PTB to collect data and feedback afterall - and if everyone says new sabo is too damn fast, they will most likely change something about that.
0 -
Right now you can do a gen in a little less than 20sec without toolboxes. Changing toolboxes will not get rid of the issue imo.
1 -
Nobody on the ptb complained about sabo ever. In practice it really wasn't that big of a deal. Now it seems the killers are coming out of the woodwork in protest without even having tested the feature.
3 -
You can ignore the topics complaining about sabo that are sprinkled throughout the first two pages of the PTB feedback forum, but that doesn't mean they're not there :3
11 -
If they truly cared about us the game wouldn't be such a joke.
Over three years now and they still haven't done anything with these garbage maps (which is one of the main reasons lower tier killers get killed in red ranks).
But oh, they saw fit to nerf Ruin in order to make the game more pleasant for newbies.
It's rather comical at this point.
12 -
beceause they increase the speed to balanced the loss of charge so now a gen at 65-70%, if the killer coming your way and you are in his radius you can finish it before he stop you
0 -
omgalaul
3 -
You can now get A LOT of mileage out of the charge add-ons (post rework versions) and PT.
The add-on loss for survivors was most likely implemented as a result of this, as the boxes themselves are not too egregious.

I'm going to try be optimistic for sabo changes and see how they play out. I still think they were unnecessary. Were there any survivor main's actually asking for this?
0 -
A single save can make the killer lose the game due to how easy survivor objective is and how many chances they get.
9 -
In fact they never left 😂
0 -
Or sometimes they don't care about feedback and go through with it anyways.
4 -
I hope they at least fix the new killer's struggle mechanic so that it's not rendered useless by a macro.
0 -
I'm a little confused, how can a macro help against the new Killer?
I thought the only think that matters is, if there is an object between Killer and Survivor or not.
Am I missing something?
0 -
Yes.
You can struggle against the chain in the open. Unlike wiggling, there is no cap on the struggle speed.
0 -
Because the charges arent the only change to them?
0 -
yea let's make it so that it take 10 seconds then
1 -
seems like the entity has left us alone
0 -
I'd agree with that, as the first line in the post is literally "This upcoming patch will, in my opinion, usher in a new Dark Times."
0 -
No. I think gen times are hilarious and any survivor that dies right now no matter what he is up against just sucks balls at the game or is a noob.
This ######### is bad for the gamehealth but devs ignore it and will continue to ignore at least i do not see any signs of change.

more often than not they listen to the feedback though.
"Spirit is too weak" - spirit buffs uppon release
"Demogorgon should be able to break pallets with shred by default" - implemented uppon release
and sometimes the community's feedback is flawed, due to the extremely short testing time the PTB provides and the players there not being able to fully grasp a killers power / play them to their fullest potential.
Freddy was deemed "too strong" by many survivors uppon release - they demanded a way to spot him outside of the dreamworld, as complete invisibility would be too strong.
and many didnt understand how the Demogorgons portals actually worked with active and inactive portals and when you could use the killerinstinct on them / when they could be destroyed.
and sometimes the feedback just consists of complaints from the side that has been nerfed, since they dont like to get nerfed.
many survivor mains loved to claim that the old insta heals were perfectly fine and balanced - when they were definitely not.
many killer mains love to claim that it wouldnt be too strong for piggys traps to activate during EGC - which would basically mean tons of free kills for a NOED piggy.
the devs can't possibly follow every feedback they get on things. there is a lot of it and there are many people saying many different things.
lets just wait and see whether they took notice of the communitys feedback this time or not before jumping to conclusions, okay?

It would have been nice if the devs engaged the community more leading up to this patch release.
It feels like a lot of concerns from both sides have gone unaddressed.
