is forcing a 3 gen the only consistent winning strategy?
I've found staying in a gen-dense part of the map (specifically areas where the gens are view-able from each other) is the best strategy for any killer. yellow-purple rank survivors try to rush the gens safely regardless of where they are. in the last 25 games I've played, the results were very consistent. the only downside is it can become a battle of attrition, until all the loops are gone in the area you have to stop chases from dragging you out. is this considered toxic or holding the game hostage? I've been shooting through ranks (although I've only faced red ranks since hitting rank 12) and getting oodles of blood-points. is there a downside to this?

If you ignore survivors for 4 gens to protect three you will more than likely lose.
Three gen is not a strong strategy. It can be used as a delay tactic but two survivors on either end of the three gens will get them done.

This is not holding the game hostage so don’t worry about that. Although 3 gen-ing is a really good strat for most killers, it will inevitably survivor sided against good survivors who pressure all gens and lead your attention away. Lower skill players get smashed by this strategy so it depends I suppose.

Often if I get a 3 gen it's because the survivors screwed up. I will patrol an area that has gens densely packed but if it turns into a 3 gens it's because the survivors finished the other gens.
