How does map selection work?

Is it random? Is my luck just terrible? Because I've only been playing on MacMillan Estate, Coldwind, and Bedham and I would really like a change of scenery once in a while.

As said before, maps like MacMillan, ColdWind, Autohaven, and Badham will be chosen the most from this RNG based system BECAUSE they have the most map variants out of every other map in the game.

For context, i'll list below each category that was said above and what map you could get from just those 4 alone. The total amount of maps from these 4 categories alone is 20 in total. The total amount of maps in-general at this time is 33, soon to be 34 when Chapter 15's Dead Dawg Saloon map is released for the LIVE version.

Because of this, and the randomized nature of the map selection, your odds of getting one of these maps is much higher than getting something like Lery's, Hawkins, etc.

macmillan estate (5 maps in total)

    • Coal Tower
    • Groaning Storehouse
    • Ironworks of Misery
    • Shelter Woods
    • Suffocation Pit

Autohaven wreckers (5 maps in totla)

    • Azarov's Resting Place
    • Blood Lodge
    • Gas Heaven
    • Wretched Shop
    • Wreckers' Yard

Coldwind farm (5 maps in total)

    • Fractured Cowshed
    • The Thompson House
    • Torment Creek
    • Rancid Abattoir
    • Rotten Fields

Springwood [Badham PreSchool] (5 maps in total)

    • Badham Preschool l
    • Badham Preschool ll
    • Badham Preschool lll
    • Badham Preschool lV
    • Badham Preschool V

If you'd like to see the rest of the maps you could get, i'll link the DBD Wikis post on it below

Hmmm... feels like they could change the RNG to first choose a realm, and them choose a map from that realm...

It's unknown if it already does this, but for the most part it's just entirely RNG.

Despite something being RNG, if something like say... a category like the 4 above have way too many maps, than you'll most likely see those maps more than something like Yamaokas Estate, Lery's, Crotus Prenn Asylum, etc. Even if it was based on that system of RNG, it's still RNG regardless.
