How fast should a chase be?
I wanna hear a dev give their ETA on this, because i teeter between rank 1-4 killer, and I often have 2 gens DONE before my first hook. One guy sits on doing gens, the other will try to rescue. I don't camp hooks, so i patrol for gens being worked on. When i find the next guy on a gen, the other guy is freed and healed sometimes. Then i have to chase for an unholy amount of time in some places. When the chase ends, i find myself looking at another gen done. so 3/5 gens done, with only 2 hooks...

If the survivor is good, he can extend the chase for several minutes no matter how good the killer is (except if the killer is nurse/spirit). That's why this game is so unbalanced.
A good killer has 0 chance of winning against 4 good survivors.
Regarding to your question, in my opinion chases should last max 40-50 seconds.

Thanks man 8) ill try to aim for that time

400 seconds for all 5 gens to pop if one person sits on it uninterrupted. 12 chases total means you need to have the survivor on the hook in 33 seconds. Of course, with perks and multiple people, its more like 270 seconds for all the gens to pop, which means 22 seconds per chase. The devs refuse to see the problem. They need more data with no ruin to see if gen speeds are a problem. A years worth ought to do it.

Chases right now are ruined by loops. As soon as you see a survivor start optimally looping you know what WOULD be like a 1 minute chase turns into 2 minutes. Especially if god forbid this wonky collission system makes you slightly slow down by snipping your sides with a barely seen rock or something while you're a big killer like Oni.
I'm hoping they're going to be generous with breakable walls since this loop optimal crap is both boring and one of the biggest plagues on chase time extentsion. Granted. Can't give the survivors stoo much crap personally for it. It's not like they got much to interact with and there's little punishment for looping.

Yeah i know when you cant do something you always feel like other side is stronger but once you pass that level that feeling of yours will fade away

It doesn't really matter if they split up and do gens quick.

Yes all four survivors have 2 lifes and it means you have to participate in 12 chases ... nice calculations!

Watch the breakable walls end up "inadvertently" causing even better loops for the Survivors.

As long as it takes for one side to out skill the other. More priority needs to be put into skill based maps.

"how good is too good?"
you can't arbitrarily define how long something based mostly on skill is
0 -
Long enough to pop three gens.

Apparently they should only be 30 seconds max otherwise people will say you’re over extending
0 -
I would say no longer than 30-45 seconds based on how fast games can go and assuming equal skill, of course.

No, they have 3, ideally. 1st chase where you hang and get unhooked. 2nd chase = struggle phase, and you can get unhooked again. 3rd chase = death hook, meaning you have to chase them 3 times if they get unhooked every time. Translate that across 4 survivors, you have twelve chases minimum.

Ah yea i see. So not balanced i guess because you have 12 chases and only 5 gens with only 80 seconds to repair.
