Please fix matchmaking -- or maybe start thinking about giving refunds

Devs,

We have payed good money to play this game. It's a great game. But come on. The matchmaking is now at the point were people cannot play.

Players are continually matched against others that are 10 or even more level apart. My level 14 yellow rank killer is not match for a red rank level 1 or 2. Yet that is the type of player that I'm continually matched against. At which point it turns into a session of survivors bullying the killer. Which then continues into the chat. And those players are not gracious toxic winners either. Talk of go ######### and I hope your family dies of some disease or another is common.

You could easily fix this by fixing matchmaking. Is it so hard to have players of similar skill level play one another?

If there are no plans on fixing matchmaking, can I assume that you will be offering refunds? We have paid for goods which we cannot use as advertised. Perhaps if matchmaking is not fixed, then that is the solution.

they could simply decide skill level by players hours it worked well for me in other game and here as well until all players profiles i open ended up to be private

Reborn2020 -- that would definitely be an improvement. Good idea.

Not an improvement. I think thats the best solution actually. Nothing needs to be complicated to be good. For example If you ask me how good i am at playing guitar my dedication to that hobby would totally be the best factor you can judge how good i am at it.

They definitely have plans to fix the matchmaking, but regardless of whether they do or not, none of us will be getting refunds. The game was sold to us as-is, and we all signed an agreement stating that the devs are not liable to us for any changes they decide to make to it, or any issues or bugs we might encounter. Of course, they'll still aim for the best customer experience possible, because it's in their best interests to do so, but according to the EULA you're not entitled to a refund and so should definitely not assume that you'll be getting one.

That's not entirely accurate, though. The Consumer Rights Act was revised to account for video games. The Consumer Rights Act says goods must be:

    • Satisfactory quality.
    • Fit for purpose.
    • As described.

These changes were made, in part, to prevent companies from hiding behind blanket EULAs if they are not holding up their part of the agreement.

Right now, DBD is lacking in these areas because the matchmaking issue is making the game unplayable.

That being said, my having mentioned refunds is more out of frustration at the lack of response from the devs into fixing this glaring issue. What I actually want is for the devs to fix the game so it can be played. That is all.

Here’s the problem, there is a killer shortage right now so when that group of 4000 hour survivors can’t find a 4000 hour killer they’ll get the 500 hour killer... obviously numbers are just made up but you get my point.

Whether or not matchmaking “works,” is irrelevant if the player base from each side isn’t close to equal

Matchmaking not a problem. SWF and key is the problem. You can play against red rank potatoes and still 4k as yellow rank killer, but you can't fight against three+ SWF with communication and key.

Well, if you can make a solid case for it in court you might get a refund, but the devs aren't about to start handing them out. Still, I get that wasn't your main point, and that's fair enough. To address your primary concern, I'll just reiterate that they are acutely aware of the issues with matchmaking and I'm sure they're being worked on. I believe the upcoming matchmaking overhaul is planned to address at least some of these issues, so hopefully we'll see that come through sooner rather than later.

    Lol a refund? Oh honey.

You paid to play their game. Not play Tue game that was in existence at the moment of purchase, and in reality you're 'renting' the game license. Which had ToU and said somewhere, content is likely to change.

Things change and update, and sometimes dont go well. But you cant get a refund because the product you've been enjoying has slowly changed or has issues from time to time, and NOW you dont enjoy it.

I cant imagine asking for a refund because matchmaking is wonky...especially in a game where rank doesnt matter AT ALL.

It fits all 3 of those points. Some people just want the matchmaking to be perfect.

    Its satisfactory, just not optimal.

Its fit for purpose, as the game can be played easily, just a little frustrating to SOME.

It's as described. A 1v4 asymmetrical horror game.

There IS no argument for a refund here. It's a digital license that fulfills all 3 of those points, it just doesn't go above and beyond. I mean hell, look at mobile games and a lot of steam greenlight games. Far more egregious business practices, yet still all perfectly legal.

And DBD is better than most of those....

Would still work. 4000 hours players vs 500 hours player is totally fine. Im glad if current matchmaking would not fail at least once.

"We have payed good money to play this game". Lul...

And no , you won't get any refunds. If you looked into it you'd know matchmaking is not exactly great for a while now. It's your own fault.
