Constant Huntress for Newbies
My nephew has been staying at my place during his spring break. I introduced him to this game and he loves it overall. He's playing the survivor side. The only thing he doesn't like is that the overwhelming majority of his matches have been with Huntress.
It's been a long time since I first started this game, but I don't remember getting the same killer game after game. Is it just a huge coincidence or do new killers overwhelmingly play huntress these days? He's a huge horror movie fan and he really wants to play against Freddy, Myers, Leatherface, and Ghostface, but he rarely gets any of them.

I do remember facing a lot of Huntress players when I first started playing this game, but that was back in early 2017. If I was to hazard a guess, I’d say the fact she can throw hatchets probably seems really powerful to new players? Because on paper, it does sound great.

You make a good point. It's been a long time for me too. I could have faced a lot of Huntress and just not remember it. I'm just watching him play and I'm getting tired of seeing Huntress.

Huntress is one of the killers that took a bad hit from the Ruin nerf. Not that that helps your situation with your family member.

All killers you've listed are licensed and must be bought with real currency, so it's not strange that newbies never play them. Buying killers with ingame currency isn't quite cheap as well, and starting choice of simple killers is pretty limited. But I would expect a lot of Wraiths (OMG OP permanent invisibility1), not Huntresses.

My first 10 (or more) games were all Huntresses and it was extremely boring and annoying. I still hate Huntress to this day.

Not really. I got into this game because you could play as Michael Myers. I bought the game and the Dlc at the same time. Granted this won't apply to more casual gamers. But I'd bet a fair few did the same thing I did.

Those killers are the most popular and i see them very often. Also spirit and yes huntress as well. Otther killers is basically dont encounter at all.

The reason you see more Huntress than anyone else at low ranks is just because she is a ranged killer.
Most of the characters in Dead by Daylight are melee characters. Even the Nurse is still ultimately a melee character! So with almost no time on Dead by Daylight Huntress appeals to new people since on paper ranged attacks make it sound like she can down survivors before they can run to a loop at all to keep up enough pressure to get an ez win.
Though I don't think anyone at that level realizes that she's 5% slower. Has a cooldown between hatchet throws. And survivors can almost always get to loops anyway.

I assume you play on pc, there were not many huntresses on ps4 when I started playing...or even now... 🤷♂️
In fact, when I started playing I basically saw all the killers in a row without repeat for like 10+ matches...
There was a sale going for almost all of them (exception of ghostface), so that might have helped 🤷♂️
