Adressing the PIG problem | Tweaks and rework suggestions.
In order to begin with the thread, I would like to point out that this is my personal opinion. I will be dividing this thread IN sections, as I feel like it's very long.
very important tweaks and suggestions
Firstly, I would like to give simple tweak ideas that could make her gameplay much more mesmerizing:
- Completely eliminate the progression bar to crouch or ambush but make her ambush a cooldown based power.
- Eliminate the audio cue of her ambush attack.
- Increase the movement speed of her crouch mode to match the normal movement speed of a killer
- Being able begin a chase and to be affected by bloodlust and other speed perks when crouching.
- Now, instead of the ambush attack being affected by the audio cue and the progression bar, make it so that when she stands back up she is affected by both, therefore making it very difficult to grab survivors but allowing you to utilize your insta-down perks such as rancor, NOED or make your choice easily.
Those are small tweaks for her main ability but I believe that the reverse bear traps should be completely reworked for it to be fun and fair to play with and against. A rework suggestion for the bear traps could be the following:
- A punishment type power that injures you (if fully healed) or applies the deep wound status effect (if injured) and gives out a visible cue when activated. It activates 31 seconds (10 seconds more than it takes to heal 1 health state without perks or add-ons) after being unhooked or being healed 1 health state.(meaning that if you are unhooked and you're inmediately healed, the timer will reset and you'll have another 31 seconds to spare in order to look for the boxes) and the timer won't progress while in a chase.
- Survivors won't be able to see the jigsaw boxes but the killer will. And Instead of having to find 1 key box you will have to find 2 boxes (of any sort, thus eliminating the key and randomness mechanic) and perform 1 medium difficulty skillcheck per box to take it off. The pig will recieve a visible cue when a survivors misses a skillcheck . Boxes should be very scarce and spread apart thus making them dangerous to go for. Amanda will start with 6 inactive bear traps, instead of 4 . Lastly, any survivors who tries to escape with a bear trap on, be it in critical or injured state will be killed on the spot.
This greatly nerfs her end game potential but buffs it's overall pressure over survivors at any given point.
DOWNSIDES OF HER present state and problems
The pig as of right now, has one of the most useless powers in the whole game, comparing her to other stealth killers like ghostface and the wraith. The amount of downsides that her main ability has, makes it so unreliable in most situations that you even forget you had it. I would like to name a few of it's main downsides:
- It does not combo or work with perks that affect basic attacks (ex: Save the best for last)
- It's got an audible cue which alerts survivors early on and ends up consecuently disorienting you
- It's extremely easy to avoid being hit
- You loose a lot of time when missing an ambush attack
- Her skill cap is way too high, quite possibly as difficult to master as the nurse.
And yes, it's good at some loops but it doesn't compare to the insta-down capabilities of the ghostface, myers or the hillbilly.
Her stealth is completely useless as it takes too long to crouch and now that the use of spine chills is on the rise, it is even more useless. In this sense you could say that the pig is just an awful version of the ghostface with a bunch of bad things.
The reverse bear traps are very very unamusing to play against as a lot of pigs will plain tunnel you when you have a reverse trap on. And if you're lucky and the pig doesn't tunnel you then you will very easily take them off, thus wasting her bear traps and frustrating the killer.
importance of the change
In my opinion, the pig is a very neglected killer mechanically and now that new cosmetics and outfits for her had been coming out I see that behaviour is putting a lot of effort into trying to make her appealing to the player base. A deserving change to the pig will increase the overall fun factor when playing as the pig and against the pig.
Let me know what you think about this in the comments section.

I'm not gonna lie, your version of the Reverse Bear Trap is very difficult for me to understand.

Let me know if the changes made on that section of the post helps to better understand my idea.

I don't think ambush attack needs to lose a progression bar or gain a cooldown. I do agree that her crouch speed needs adjusted. Not quite to the killer's natural movement speed, but at the very least faster than Nurse's movement speed. Her RBT's are mostly fine, but she needs to start with 5 of them, and 5 boxes. Each survivor should have to search boxes for a 'key'. I like that idea. Survivors need two keys to open the RBT. This would mean that at minimum survivors would have to search 2 boxes to remove the RBT. This gives the RBT's more slowdown potential. As it is now, a lot of times I'll see survivors get their traps off at first. They could increase the timer a little to compensate for having to search more boxes.

In relation to the ambush attacks, I made it so it's potential was similar of that of ghostface, since ghostface can go into stealth mode instantly and can achieve the same things without the slow movement speed or without any audio cues but for the cost of a cooldown.
And in relation to the RBT'S I meant it so that the survivors don't have to go through the uncertainty of finding the key box. And the rush to getting yout RBT off should be higher as you might fear that the killer will be on you any time or be giving out audio cues and mending yourself. But the RBT will be relatively easy to take off if done right under the right circumstances. This would mean that the pig would be burning through her RBT'S very quickly. Even though I said that I think I have to change some things about the RBT'S as it does not really function as a pressure tool now that I re-read everything.
