Lag Out/Spectate

Okay I’m just curious if anyone else knows why this is a thing. So when I intentionally DC from a game (yes I know how dare I I’m a horrible person Etc) I am still able to spectate the game all the way till the end, but when I lag out or get disconnected which is rare, mid game (other ppl are still in game I was only one who disconnected) I can’t spectate the game at all.
Both instances are considered DCing so why is it with one you can spectate but not the other???

When you dc by an error or connection problems, you are kicked from the game.
Leaving is same as finishing the game, when it comes to how client works. So you are still connected therefore you can spectate.
That's how i see it.
