Are You Afraid To Try A New Killer? I Am! Here's Why!

Recently, I've been tip-toeing away from my Nurse because I want to venture out and try other killers. Nurse is the only killer I've ever played seriously and decided to try something new.

I picked up Huntress yesterday because I've always admired her background, and her hatchet hits seem the most satisfying hits out of most killers.

But every time I spawned in a lobby, I noticed many survivors with nice/old cosmetics and wondered if I was being paired up fairly against survivors. The answer was no. As soon as I felt something funny about these survivors, I quickly switched to my Nurse and this is why.

And this is why I'm scared to venture out because of the matchmaking system that is in place. I wanted to play my Huntress, I leveled her to 50 in a day.

I'm having a great time with her but I do not want to be paired up with players like these. I'm an expert with Nurse, but believe me when I say this, every other killer I'm a complete dunce. I'm ready to move on to a different killer but it's reasons like the picture above that makes it quite difficult to do so.

Anyone else a bit scared to venture out from their comfort zone?

I totally get what you mean and you are far from alone. Personally, I kind of missed the whole Billy hype train and have been afraid of floundering around with a chainsaw sprint trying to get downs. There will be those who say that you should just go right into the deep end with a killer and expect to get destroyed a few matches in a row. That could work, but it's not for everybody. Personally, I would recommend playing the killer with some good addons. For example, play the huntress with some extra hatchets or faster reload speed/ wind up time. It'll widen your window for error and let you get more comfortable with the killer before you might not need the most powerful load out. The Deathslinger has addons that specifically shorten the cooldown after missed shots and the reload speed to get you back into the chase. I didn't play a match without those until I got used to his aiming and projectile speed. Yeah you'll still have a rough time but if you go into a match knowing that you're going to make mistakes, it might help.

Trying new killers is difficult because matchmaking focuses on how good you are at playing killer, not how good you with the killers themselves.
