can't lunge and have to hold M1 for a normal basic attack

Just as the title says, can't do a quick basic attack and have to hold the M1 to do a normal basic attack about the same amount of time it takes normally to lunge. I am sure that the held attack is a basic attack as it hits the pallet while the survivor is still on it where a lunge would have hit the survivor. it also does not move me forward as a lunge would. I have managed to get 3 games of 4k even with this issue but I am unable to counter loops properly with no lunge and keeping on target for 1/3 of a second to basic attack makes countering 360's a lot harder
