How do you slow down gens?

I had a game on crotus penn aslyum where I could not slow down gens. That map is already rough for Killer as is. I was playing Legion and no one would heal until their gen was done. They'd always split up so no more than two of them were ever nearby. They'd wait until the absolute last second for saves. And anytime I got in a chase they'd finish a gen.

I didn't learn anything that game. My chases finished quick but I was only getting a hook per gen. So I just left confused. I just didn't have enough time. Nothing I did would work. They even worked on gens while deep wounded after a frenzy.

You don't slow down Gens in such situations. They were probably a SWF genrushing like crazy, so there's unfortunately nothing that can be really done except for slugging.

Preventing Gens from being done when against an organized 4-man SWF is one of the most difficult things in this game, and downing and hooking Survivors mostly isn't enough. Therefore, slugging is your best bet, even though I do not encourage it.

The game is in a state where there are many scenarios that you just can't win unless you have a good build on a good killer. That is one of these scenarios.

If you only got one hook per gen then your chases were not that quick. People are getting way too tilted when the first 2-3 gens pop. It’s ok, it’s still an even game. Read on.

By the time the first 3 gens are done you need at least 3 hooks. That is a one for one at that point. But ideally someone will be on their death hook at that time.

When you hook the 4th person, it means one person is stopping gens to go save them. That’s two people not doing gens. You can go stop the other two and ideally down one before the unhook. If you do that then it means at most 1 person is on a gen and you can go put someone else on their death hook.

now ideally you have two people on death hook. It’s ok if it’s only one. Go kill them now.

Now it’s a 3v1 with 1-2 gens left. Find another person and hook them. At that point it’s likely no one is on gens because one will stop to go unhook and another is getting chased by you.

If that person keeps on the gen and doesn’t care that’s fine. Go back to the unhook and down the person that was just hooked. Then go down and hook the unhooked. Ideally they’ll now be dead also while that 3rd person kept on a gen and will complete it or is going to get the down person.

Now it’s a 2v1. If they decided to finish the gen all gens will be done. Go chase them and down and hook them. The last person either waited or opened the gates. They will either leave so you get a 3K or they go back for the unhook and you try for the 4K.

If they are a 4-man SWF you probably won’t get more than a 2K. And that’s fine. Just don’t get tilted over good SWFs and move on.

some games you just cant win, even more so as certain killers. the reason for this is due to all those really good players who was red ranks before the ruin change/rank change all being put on one team, when this happens it shows how unbalanced the game is and these games tend to end in hook trading at the end. this is why you will get games where you can get 9-12 hooks with 5 gens left and other games 1-5hooks and all gens done, personally it shouldnt be that inconsistent but thats due to rank being a mess and being to easy to pip regardless of skill. As for legion my build is

Corrupt intervention - Slows down the gens at the start, forces more people closer together too if they wanna work on gens

Thana - more people i have injured the slower the gens and healing goes, this makes shorter chases if theyre injured but paired with corrupt it allows me to slow down repair speeds before all gens are able to be worked on.

Pop - allows me to regress any gen which gets worked on, very deadly as it removes 25% which took the survivors awhile to do due to slowdown

BBQ - just allows me to get some extra BP and can provide a little info on where people are

    ADDONS:

    • button (yellow or green rarity, this will stop/slowdown the healing process even more, making shorter chases so more pop uses)
    • Any duration, recovery or cooldown, (personally i like recovery)

If people arent healing at all dont be afraid to use your power to quickly cross the map (only do this if they arent healing, it allows you to gain use from your power and can save some time for the much longer distances)
