Playing as survivor so far...
I'm 3-17 in my last 20 matches (0-8 against Deathslinger in that span). Anybody ever go through a rough patch like that?

Is that escapes or pips?

Escapes, I've never believed in pipping. I should add that before all the changes and matchmaking inconsistencies, I was 50/50 at best. Just trying to find a way to adapt to the changes.

What changes do you mean exactly?
I know that matchmaking and the rank system can screw you up pretty bad, since survivors of very different skill levels can be matched up together, sadly.

Survivor main here! And oh boy... Do I hit some rough patches. I've gone literal days of playing without getting a single escape. It can be super tough, especially if you're a casual player (like I am). Don't get discouraged - just hang in there and keep at it! You'll have an 'on' day soon enough. :) Also, just try to get the most bloodpoints. I've stopped thinking of 'escapes' as a win and started thinking of getting more bloodpoints than the killer as a win - and that happens pretty frequently!
As for Deathslinger I will be honest... I've yet found a really solid way to counter him. The general consensus on the forums is a mixture of 'git gud' and 'don't get harpooned' but that's obviously not genuinely helpful advice. So far my wins against him have been a mixture of stealth heavy rounds and just dropping that palette early!
It's a very different play style, especially coming off of the Doctor craze, but Deathslinger isn't a super fast killer like some. He's going to get you in a chase, yes, but his general map coverage is relatively low. Take it slow and quiet and sometimes you can get around him decently. In a chase just aim for the trees/palettes/windows as much as you can... Though I still get hooked like 9/10 of the time. I'm curious to know if people can increase their reel speed because I've seen HUGE distances reeled in within less than 2-2.5 seconds and my struggle meter wasn't even 1/4th the way. So I dunno!
Good luck out there!

This is awesome advice for Deathslinger, thanks! Yes I'm a casual player and I'm also on console, so that's 2 strikes right there, haha. I usually run with Claudette, but I just prestige her and am using a Level 50 Meg while I level up Claudette again. I'm usually good with Meg, but this latest string of games has been difficult with her. Trying to find an answer perk wise that will give me better success, but it's a lot of luck and skill in the end.
Back to Deathslinger, it's the gun that I have struggles with. The long range attack makes it (so far) difficult for me to repair gens and get rescues. I did have my best game against him last night, we got down to 1 gen, but then he slugged everybody and I tried to revive the first person he slugged, thinking he would be a while on the others, but he doubled back and caught me. Didn't help that the survivor wasn't fully recovered, but I tried the best I could. I've never played so much for Bloodpoints as I just try to escape, but I'll do more of the little things (chests, totems) a lot more and hope this rough patch ends!

Just all the recent nerfing going on. Minimum as they may seem, it does have an impact on my games, I'm not totally blaming that as the reasons for my struggles though.

I only play solo survivor on PS4 and I'd say about 80% of my games these days end in 3 or 4K. I'm constantly paired with players that don't seem to understand the basics, even though they're in purple ranks. Unless you're playing SWF, the killer really has to mess up or not know what they're doing for survivors to escape these days. At least from my experience.

New killer is just a waste of playtime. The only way to win is to throw down every pallet in advance and hope your teammtes push through the gens in time.

We have had nights like that before. Cant buy an escape, good killers , mistakes lead to snowballs, bad luck.
But then we have nights where we escape almost every match. It's probably what keeps us all coming back.

It's not unusual for solo q to die a lot. Solos are fairly weak barring very good rng, currently, and matchmaking doesn't help either.
As for the Deathslinger, you have to prioritize distance on him, similarly to how you would do when versing a Nurse. I understand it could be difficult, considering that his terror radius is kinda wacky. The best you could do is to leave the gen early and keep breaking line of sight. In close quarters, he's very deadly, if the player has good aim.

That rough patch is my whole survivor career lmao. But especially in solo, it's usually correct for me that being the first found means I die. Or playing Steve means I die. But I'm fine with not escaping as long as I can manage to survive long enough and do enough to get some BPs! And if I'm lucky enough to be the obsession, I'll take those bonus 'Obsession Dead' BPs too.
I think the only time a rough patch really bothers me is if I've played a string of GREAT games and pip up a bunch and then in a matter of an hour I'm back to where I started. I'm not in any way trying to like get to Red Ranks or anything, but it still feels like wasted effort based on getting stuck with meh teammates.

And you're sure that is nothing to do with archives? I've seen people acting so stupid since the patch due to new page, They basically suicide for protection hits and healings.

You sound like me, I've had moments where I would rank up a few spots, then I die really fast in the next set of trials and I lose 4 rank spots it seems.
Thanks everyone for the Deathslinger tips, will try next chance I get.
