Why is Deathslinger punished for long range shots?
This is just flawed design. Instead of getting rewarded for hitting a long range shot with Deathslinger's toothpick hitbox and getting Dedicated Servers to work with you for once, you give survivors more opportunities to break the chain. If you hit a long range shot, you are punished with
1. A longer reeling time
2. Giving more chances for survivors to either bodyblock or getting an object
Like, congratulations, you hit that long range shot, you should earn your down, right? Nope, they got behind an object for 2 seconds, you can't reel them in fast enough before the chain breaks, get #########. How about a small buff? I have 3 suggestions.
1. More charges for the chain so it isn't as easy to break.
2. The farther away a survivor is, the faster they get reeled in.
3. If we're being really drastic, make Iridescent Coin basekit.
I think two would be the right way to go here. It would make short range shots over loops still possible to break out of, while rewarding long range shots.

No.
Get the stun or just break the chain yourself to close distance if you prefer. It would become too oppressive otherwise, considering the quick scope capability of DS - in other words, you can easily dodge a long range hatchet, that's not as true for DS spear, hence why you need a drawback for long range shots.

It's the killer's job to move with the reeled survivor to prevent obstacles from breaking the chain faster. Move in the opposite direction of the survivor if they go one way towards a rock, etc. Move backwards while reeling to bring them in faster and limit their movement.
