Tome II EGC challenges and second Hatch close challenges are dumb
######### them.
They are way too RNG-reliant, something that challenges shouldn't be. I am ######### tired of not finding the Hatch, salty Survivors kill themselves at the same time in order to deny me the Hatch, or finding too late and having to go through another game only for the same ######### to happen again. It is not fun at all to get zero progress on my challenge all because of luck. I hoped BHVR had learned from Tome I that RNG-reliant challenges were not the way to go but it turns out I was wrong.
When I say finding the Hatch too late, apparently if the Entity is already in the process of taking the Survivor, then it won't count. You have to close the Hatch when they're either in the struggle phase or just hanging there for stage 1. I've closed the Hatch multiple times right near the end and even though I get the Hatch Closed score event before the last Sacrifice one, this dumbass game will ignore it. I'm really hoping that it's just bug #493,049 and not a ######### feature implemented because it's a "challenge".
I really hope that Tome III either omits these types of challenges completely or bring adjustments that make them not completely reliant on RNG. Fun is a crucial part of a challenge as you don't want players to feel like completing it is a chore. Normally I don't do full on rants but I'm just fed up with these pieces of #########. I want to get more Rift Fragments. I want to do other challenges. However, I'm stuck on the last ######### Hatch close challenge for level 4 and I hate it! I can't just throw the game because not only do I hate having to throw games for challenges, but the Survivors can just time their escapes right and prevent the Hatch from even opening! I had a game a couple days ago where I tried chasing out a Zarina so I could close the Hatch. I thought I chased her out, but it turns she was at the very edge of the exit. I didn't think I could go back without missing the Hatch, so I just stood by the Hatch and mashed the button. Guess what the little ######### does? Waits for the last Survivor to finish being sacrificed and then leaves so the game registered both the death and escape at the same time and ended without even opening the Hatch at all. Even if I decide to ignore it, the fact that it exists is too much. I should be done with this stupid-ass "close the Hatch two times" challenge by now but nope! There's too many RNG-based factors that go into triggering the EGC and closing the Hatch. I already finished the EGC challenges, but they were a major pain in the ass and I would prefer to not have to go through them again. Killers don't even have a perk that reveals the Hatch like Survivors do! You have to get lucky!

Even tho these challenges are SUPER luck reliant, pretty much every challenge is atleast somewhat luck reliant... just because you can't predict 100% what will happen in a trial.

Slug the last guy, go find the hatch. Pretty simple.

You’re right, but at least the others you have much more control over. You don’t have any control over these. These ones are basically “did you run in the right direction at the right time?” and you have no way of knowing what direction that is.
That would work if the Hatch wasn’t a small square that could appear literally anywhere and only spawns closed after a specific set of conditions have been met. Killers don’t even have a perk that lets them see the Hatch like Survivors do. If the Survivors haven’t repaired enough gens to meet one of the conditions, then they can easily just give up and not repair gens while you’re looking for the last one.

I mean after you hook the second to last guy, slug the last guy and go looking for the hatch. You can listen for it then. That's how I did it.

Yeah, that does work. I just hate how out of your control and up to chance it is. You can go 100 games without finding the Hatch first or you could find it on your first try.

I think the key challenge is a lot worse. You're going to piss off killers, who'll bring Ebony Mori's just because you're trying to do a stupid challenge. And then you have to FIND the hatch before the killer and open it. And you can't really listen for it then.

At least with that you can bring a stealth build + Left Behind to make it a little bit easier. Killers don't even have a perk that reveals the Hatch.
