Yui/Oni vs Zarina/Deathslinger
Yui and Oni's lore are on point and their cosmetics are so cool! How did the devs go form that to the recent DLC release. Not that I am not appreciative of their work, I just wish that it did not seem like it was thrown together with no rhyme nor reason.
Zarina is plain and her lore mixed with Deathslingers makes no sense? I don't even see how they would make cosmetics for her and deathslinger to make them want to be played.
I think the map could have been an aquarium theme. The survivor could have been a marine biologist/diver and the killer could have been a mutant sea creature that stole the diver's/marine biologist's harpoon, who had been effected by radiation or nuclear waste. Somehow incorporating humanitarianism like they did with Zarina but with the diver's place of employment (the aquarium) being built near a nuclear waste facility/plant/ etc.

As far as I know the survivor and killer in DLC's dont have to be connected in any way. Think of Ace and Hag or Plague and Jane
Its very open ended in that regard, but that is what I love about it personally. You never really know what you are gonna get in the end.
Cosmetics sometimes have descriptions that give a little more backstory on the characters in a subtle way. They could make some amazing stuff for these characters in the future, but we will have to wait and see where they are going to take them.
PS: As an aquatic/ocean lover I would have loved an aquarium map.

Even though characters in the same DLC may not be related in any way, most people are disappointed with Zarina for a different reason, as far as I have seen. She is just plain and adds nothing. She is pretty much a carbon copy of Jane but with less fat (which seems to be Jane's main appeal) and with a different nationality in terms of backstory. And if we look at her general appearance, most of her cosmetics are really similar to the ones of other characters.

A nautical chapter would be interesting down the line but I've been known to say among my gaming circles that I would give an arm, leg, left nut, firstborn child, etc, for a Western chapter. Now that I've got it, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Plague and Jane are connected in the sense that both were celebrities of their time, Adiris as a famous priestess that cured the plague and Jane as a tv celebrity. Just an observation.

Zarina's lore being mixed with Caleb's actually makes perfect sense if you think about it. Zarina's entire role is digging through the lies to discover what is true and bringing that truth to the light. Something like the Mad Mick Massacre would get her interested and want to dig deeper.
You're right about one thing though. Zarina is pretty bland. The only stand-out thing from her is that she's Middle Eastern. Which, admittedly, I did want to see for a while, but in an actually interesting character.

one of his perks (nemesis) is that anyone who stuns him will be his obsession, which means that he takes things very personally, I don't want to imagine when he comes across 4 toxic lines with 4 flashlights ...

one of his perks tries that he can lift 1 single pallet to its original position, it would be a good perk if it wasn't for the killers having brains.

Chad deathslinger:The head of a gang would justify catching thugs all over town, what could be more epic?
All his perks are amazing, And if you do not agree you will have a harpoon where the sun does not hit in 0.3 seconds.
Boomer zarina:he struggled to get his dream job, yui ... he just went out there and used his grandmother's money to buy a motorcycle instead of something more formal? ok ....
a perk of her allows her to sacrifice his health to give it to another survivor, what a hero!.
