Rift Challenges Suggestions

The introduction of the Archives was a great milestone for Dead by Daylight. However, it removes normalcy from the game. I have some suggestions however on how this can possibly be resolved. At the beginning of a new Rift, both times, I have experienced a drop in the ability to enjoy the game because everyone is going for the same challenges and are disinterested in playing the game how it is supposed to be played. The challenges should compliment gameplay not take precedence over it. As an example of this is having a challenge to search chests, someone pops a shiny coin and goes and search all of the chests in the game ignoring anything that happens around them. Unhooks, people will go unhook the person no matter what, and sacrifice themselves to get their challenge when there would have been an opportunity for both of us to be safe. Or perhaps just go get the person off of hook and hope it results in a safe unhook even if it was not an ideal unhook. Situations of that nature.

To help move towards a solution I believe that challenges should be randomized for each Survivor player for starters. That way most players that get matched up together or most friends who play together will not be working on the same Challenge. Another suggestion is the ability to select up to 3 challenges at a time to work on simultaneously. I would say someone could do Unhooks, Escapes, and a Character Specific (5 Rift Fragment Reward) at once. Maybe have it where they add up to a total of no more than 11 rift fragments of total challenges being worked on currently. With this however, challenges would need to be capped per game. I think the amount of unhooks, escapes and things should possibly be increased to a higher number however, not drastically but higher. A cap should also be implemented on some of these challenges where you can only get say 2 unhooks per game, search 1 or 2 chests per game. This way survivors won’t have to compete with one another over challenges as it very much can feel that way how things are now. I really believe deploying the “Select 3” could ease a lot of frustration among the player base when many find themselves at a standstill on a particular challenge. This would provide more flexibility.

A challenge I believe should be removed entirely from the game is protection hits. Protection hits are very inconsistent when it comes to registering one in game. Most survivors seem to unhook a survivor and get hit intentionally or run to the killer when a survivor gets downed to get hit because that is the best way to get a protection hit, taking away from the normalcy of the game if there is no benefit to the survivor being hit other than the challenge being achieved.

Two challenges I believe should be introduced are Vaulting during a chase ( Survivor & Killer ) and Cleansing Totems. Totems probably were not a challenge because there are only 5, but say there is a challenge to cleanse approximately 20 totems with a max of 2 or 3 per game, then that would work out especially if everyone has randomized challenges. Maybe even map specific challenges could be implemented For killers and survivors. Daily/Weekly Rift Challenges that you could do could be a possibility as well for a small bonus, maybe they could be the map related ones.

*Note - Only Survivors would experience an increase in the number of challenge objectives and only survivors would be able to select 3 challenges.
