What one season as Survivor has taught me.

First off I want to say I'm not just making another boo hoo killers too hard survivors easy post if there's one thing I've learned is that the solo que experience can be frustrating too. I'd also like to point out if it wasn't obvious I definitely classify myself as a killer main I have probably over 150 hours on pig alone, and I have been to rank one as killer several times. All this being said I was very surprised how fast I hit rank 4 (despite probably being carried by poor matchmaking). I was also surprised because I learned there are a lot of things you don't see as killer that goes on on the survivors side. I also think I understand where some survivor frustration comes from. As a survivor it felt like I had much less control over myself and my rank. I could get 2 hooked because of selfish teammates or camping killers. I had to wait for someone to heal me. Sometimes every pallet was used without my knowledge and I'd run into dead zones. Sometimes the way killers played made it so I had no control over anything that happened. And this lead to truly infuriating experiences. All this being said I still think due to whatever reasons survivor is much easier maybe because its just how much pressure is on a killers shoulders compared to a survivors.

Anyways sorry for the long post TLDR: I'm a killer main who has been really enjoying survivor and I think from now on I'm going to make more of an effort to play survivor and killer.

Oh yeah, solo survivor is just as, if not more frustrating than Killer at high ranks. I play both, but I get far more enjoyment on killer (at least I used to).

You can use left behind and a key if you find yourself really annoyed at your team. Then at least you always have some hope when people are dropping in 20 seconds.

If you want to hard carry games, offer a good map and run object of obsession. Object, spine chill (in case you get a stealth killer), resilience, and a 4th perk of your choosing is a pretty good way to get tunneled all game and still win. Sometimes you will die but you will improve very quickly at the chases, much more than hiding and doing gens, maybe not getting chased the entire game. Getting tunneled straight off the bat is a really good thing if you are familiar with the maps because you will know where all the good pallets are and can use them efficiently instead of having them wasted by team members.

Killers need some stuff taken away or reworked so the game slows down a bit. They already nerfed toolboxes into oblivion so it requires a lot more teamwork to get stuff done. It just sucks playing solo trying to take your time and enjoy all that the game has to offer doing totems and opening chests when you literally don’t have time to do that when the killer gets his first down 10-15 seconds into spawning in almost every single game. Tbh I think it’s too easy for killers to find survivors and some of it has to do with gens being too close together and lack of cover, knee high crates/debris, skinny trees. It’s too easy to patrol gens on some of these smaller maps and some of these killers are just too high mobility billy and spirit being prime examples. if you aren’t a coordinated team that can keep an eye on and tell the team where the killer is at all times then it’s just unplayable.

    i just don’t see it as a 50/50 kinda game in terms of surviving/dying. It’s not. It’s lopsided 🤷‍♂️

The game is heavily skewed towards the survivors at red ranks. There is a reason I typically have to wait 3-5 minutes to get into a game as a survivor and maybe 3-5 seconds to get into one as the killer.

The new maps are killer sided and encourage stealth play, but most of the old maps have so much to work with you could run a killer for 10+ minutes by yourself. Springwood, Ormond, almost all coldwind maps, half the macmillan maps, most of the autohaven maps, haddo, and crotus penn are all maps that will let you 1v1 the killer if you are better than them.

Good survivors should not be scared to be found on any of those maps.

Well, it IS lopsided. As a solo player. Because those are people who are playing either killer or solo survivor, and either going against pro teams as killer or dealing with absolute trolling morons when playing as survivor. That's at least how it ends up in my games.

I play both sides pretty equally. So I understand the frustrations of both sides, especially since I ONLY solo queue. (Or SWF with One person, but I haven't done that in a long time). As a survivor there's a LOT that's out of your control. If you get hooked, will the killer camp or tunnel? If you get saved, will your teammate have BT or will they farm you? Which gens are your teammates doing? Are they doing totems? I need to find a teammate to heal up. WHY DID THEY JUST DROP THAT PALLET? THE KILLER IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP? (This happened to me today in the killer shack. I think it was an accident, they were trying to heal me, but dropped the pallet instead. So not their fault.) It's also easy to three gen yourselves. Of the 3 games I played today as survivor, TWO of them we ended up three genning ourselves. I got out of the second one, thanks to committing to a gen as soon as he left it. But that game lasted a LONG time.

As a killer the most frustrating thing I think is when you can't find survivors. Like if you guess wrong where they spawned, you're in for a bad time. Had a game the other night with four Bill's who all had spine chill and essentially avoided me most of the match. I couldn't even down one of them until 4 gens had been done. At which point my RBT's were mostly useless. I mean I patrolled the map listening for gens, but none seemed to be worked on. Then all of a sudden they were popping VERY fast. And don't get me started on Sanctuary of Wrath Claudettes.

It's good to play both sides. You learn a lot, and I think it makes you a better overall player.

if you're a good killer, killer experience is a lot better than solo survivor.

Puts a lot more things in perspective, hey? Good to see that you've actually made an attempt to understand both sides.
