Is Hex: Ruin worth purchasing in the Shrine?

I'm a fairly new player that just started playing killer, and saved up shards to purchase Ruin before I actually looked up the Nerf. I just saw Ruin, got excited and started grinding for shards expecting it to be the old version I'd heard so much about. Is this new version worth it still or should I save for something else? I'd love to get experienced players' take as it took hours to farm the shards, and I don't want to buy it, and feel like I wasted time if it doesn't really help in the game.

Tough call whether it is worth it to you or not. It is a better perk than most players give it credit for. The trick is protecting the totem while still pushing survivors off generators. Let's put it this way, if the perk survives then it can absolutely take over a game. I still use ruin on Doctor. He actually does have the ability to push survivors off gens while keeping the totem alive. Pop Goes The Weasel is more useful at delaying gens with most killers though imho. If you only have enough shards for one perk then that is the one I'd pick.

    What killer do you play?

I like having all the perks, so I would just based on that. If you are good at gen pressure and the hex stays up, it can be really helpful in regressing gens, but I dont like running hex perks since they are so easily counterable, personally. It's kind of luck of the draw as to whether or not someone spawns in on your valuable totems.

I would personally save up 9000 and buy a killer though. If you get hag then you get ruin, third seal and devour hope. Any one of those perks can take over a game if it survives. Plus you get a good killer. If you get clown then you get pgtw, coulrophobia, and bamboozle. Pop and bamboozle are both solid perks. Good luck whatever you go with and welcome to the forums.

I've been playing Leatherface and Clown. I'm only rank 16 (which doesn't seem to matter since I constantly get into lobbies with red and purple ranks). I haven't chosen a main yet. I grinded Leatherface for BBQ and currently grinding Clown for Pop. I do find Clown really fun, though, so I may stick with him.

I bought Leatherface and Clown for Pop and BBQ. The bloodrush has been a huge help for the teachables.

I wouldn't then, its mainly only reliable on killers that have high mobility. You can pick it up if you plan on switching from Clown, but if you don't then I reccomend sticking with Pop, as you can't use both in one build.

Honestly, before the rework I'd say yes and no, and after I say the same thing.

Before the rework I'd just gen tap, took maybe 15 seconds longer to do the gen, but I had no skill checks.

Now, either I find the totem which is easy for the most part, or my team does. And even if they don't it doesn't matter, when I play against Ruin as survivor, the only way for the killer to win is map pressure, which only a few killers are good at.

As a killer, I can't recommend it for the most part. If you can do good map pressure WHILE protecting the totem, it's totally worth it. If not, it's a wasted perk slot. You're better off taking tracking perks.

Its vastly more powerful than it was before if you’re a good player. Not as good for inexperienced players though who needed the early game slowdown.
