Why are low rank trappers so common?
I do not think tapper is hard to play against, as long as you understand what a bear trap is and pay attention to where they put traps, but why do 75 percent of my matches now adays consist of low rank trappers, and teammates who think they can just jump over bear traps? Like most of the teammates I've had just today alone were purple rank and I'm at rank 11 killer was 13 or 14 most matches and they're still dying in duos or trios because they try to unhook one person every time they get hooked instead of doing gems. Like come on guys I just wanna actually take advantage of blood rush before its over.

Probably because he's the first Killer. Usually he's picked by default for new players, so they decide to play Trapper. Also, if you want to get bloodpoints rn through bloodrush, play Killer. More bloodpoints.

Yes, check what day it is tomorrow, the answer should be obvious.

Trapper is the face of the game. It's pretty obvious.

Trapper's the game's mascot, he's relatively difficult to screw up compared to the other free Killers (Wraith can have his Wailing Bell misused by newbies, Hillbilly can crash with his saw, Huntress can miss hatchets and Nurse can miss everything), his Power carries with it zero explicit downsides, his Power is good for learning the game in general, and works great against low rank Survivors without feeling oppressive or like its carrying you through matches.
I would also argue he's got good teachables, Agitation and Brutal Strength are both decent choices especially for new players.

Well, he is the mascot, and is the first killer to show up. Its comprehensible why new player would pick him first.

The same way probably you would face more low rank Dwights than any other survivor.
