Buffing/Reworking Kate's Perks
Back at it again changing another batch of perks. Today the spotlight is on Kate Denson the hopeful songbird. I tried to make everything super easy to understand. I also did this with Steve Harrington, click HERE if you want to check it out.
Dance with me according to the wiki for reference:
Problems with dance with me that need to be fixed:
- Duration too short.
- unnecessarily LONG cool-down.
Dance With Me is one of Kate's best perks, but it is still weak. Dance With Me needs a MINOR change.
how i would fix dance with me:
When performing a fast vault or leaving a Locker in a sprint, you leave no Scratch Marks for 5 seconds. Dance With Me has a cool-down of 50/40/30 seconds.
How this fixes problems with dance with me:
- Longer Duration. That's really all it needs.
- Shorter CD.
Windows of Opportunity according to the wiki for reference:
Problems with windows of opportunity that need to be fixed:
- Noob perk tied to a DLC, what????
- Weak effect for veterans of DbD.
This perk should really be given to all noobs for free, but im going to change it to make it more useful for veterans because it's unlikely that a noob will have this perk.
How i would fix windows of opportunity:
Unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.
Auras of Pallets and Vaults are revealed to you when within a range of 20 metres. Reveals your aura to all other Survivors when fast vaulting windows or pallets in a chase for 8 seconds. Windows of Opportunity has a cool-down of 30/25/20 seconds when vaulting or dropping a Pallet during a Chase.
NOTE: Survivors get a small notification similar to We'll Make It whenever their teammate has activated Windows of Opportunity.
How this fixes problems with windows of opportunity:
- Still a noob perk but has a new effect for veterans.
- Veterans running this perk can now alert other Survivors when it's safe to work on Generators, and potentially the general area of the Killer.
Boil over according to the wiki for reference:
Problems with boil over that need to be fixed:
- Increased struggling effects do nothing to Killers above the rank of 20.
- Aura obscure part only works on inside maps.
- Situational perk that even flat out sucks in the situation it comes into effect in.
This perk requires a complete rework to be anywhere near decent in my opinion.
How I would fix boil over:
You are a battler and do everything to escape a foe.
After being hit by the Killer, Boil Over activates for 5/10/15 seconds.
While Boil Over is activated your vault speed is increased by 100%, and your struggling effects on the Killer are increased by 75%. Boil Over has a cool-down of 60 seconds. Boil Over deactivates and goes on cool-down if you are healed to the healthy state, or after vaulting 2 times.
How this fixes problems with boil over:
- New effect, but still has the old effect tied in for people that liked the old effect.
- No more situational aura obscure.
- Still a situational perk, but a strong effect to balance it out.
Let me know what you think of some of these ideas I have been thinking of. Feel free to express your own opinions on my suggestions along with how you would fix them if you want.

Dance with me
I like your change.
Windows of Opportunity
I wouldn't underestimate this perk, because you may know where the pallets are as veteran but you sometimes don't know if they are still up. The perk would be much better if it counters freddys dream pallets and the pallets created by the docs order in my opionion. I would love to see that getting changed.
Boil Over
I really, really like that perk and i would love to see the range getting buffed to a point, where the killer almost can't carry you to a hook, whose aura isn't blocked by the perk. I don't know what range that would be in meters, but that's what i would like to get changed for the perk.

DWM: good change, I like it.
WoO: I think a simpler buff would be to reveal Illusion and Dream Pallets. It would still not be remotely meta or OP, but it would be in a spot similar to Small Game.
Boil Over: again, I think it's simpler to add an effect that reduces the wiggle timer, which is what anybody assumed the perk would do when it was released, only to be disappointed. Same as above, still not meta or OP, but a nice small buff to give it some usefulness.

Definitely agree with the WoO change that allows it to differentiate fake pallets from real ones. I thought this is how it worked originally, but I was disappointed when I found out it doesn't work like that.
On the other hand though, I don't want Boil Over to be the Iron Grasp but for Survivors because that's just extremely boring and we already have Breakout which has a similar effect. That's just my opinion though.
