Why am I facing red ranks as rank 16 killer?
I'm pretty new to this game and just started playing killer within the last week. At rank 18-20 I got survivors around my rank with the occasional rank 12 or so. I had good games and bad ones, but I was having a ton of fun learning either way.
Once I reached rank 17, things changed drastically. I constantly got full groups around rank 10 or so and things got harder, but it was kind of okay, because I was still learning, and though I lost more than I won, the games didn't feel severely one sided.
Now, at rank 16, which is still low rank, I get matched with reds and purples on a regular basis. These games are not very fun. Getting absolutely wrecked by these groups and subsequently tbagged/flashlighted game after game gets tiring. I literally have about four hours total played as killer and I'm facing red ranks.
Is this something that will change, or should I just get used to it? Playing survivor was so much easier lol

Broken matchmaking is the cause, but there are also some survivors who will have their Red/Purple rank friends join them in SWF to essentially bully the new killers. I've had it multiple times but I'm not really new, since I transferred from Xbox to PS4 so their tactics don't work, but unfortunantly, it does for new players. And the sad truth is, this is the current state of the game since the devs are going to implement a skill-based MM system that will magically fix all these issues with matchmaking.

I mean, we were also supposed to have gotten a matchmaking fix where SWFs would go off of the highest rank player rather than the average between the group. I can verify that it still does not work this way, unless it was apparently disabled for the weekend some friends and I were actually dirty hypocrites for a few hours >:3

If it was disabled, it wasn't for too long because I got a fair few SWF groups while playing on PS4 over the weekend. But yes, SWF matchmaking doesn't match to the highest rank in that party, which I find pretty stupid personally, but survivors need those EZ Wins I guess.

Wait till you hit rank 12. Nothing but red from there on...

Get used to it for the time being. Also most of those redranks arent redranks, they merely belong into green ranks at best.

It's a good way to learn killer. I was rank 10 and only played red ranks..got destroyed. Now I can use Clown and destroy red rank teams. Well not red SWF groups then I need Spirit to get a 1-2k at best.
