Killer Concept: The Infected v2.1
Back in December, I posted a thread with a couple concept ideas to add a killer from L4D to go with Bill: here
I had kind of forgotten about it since then but with all of this free time quarantine has given me, I eventually came back to this idea.
KILLER Details
Height: Average
Terror radius: 32 m
Movement speed: 4.6 m/s
Weapon: Gnarled fist
Potential maps: The finale for The Sacrifice/The Passing, the finale of Dead Center, a place featured in The Sacrifice comic, etc.
POWER
Endless Horde
The green flu left few immune to its effects. In only a matter of weeks, it spread through and infected the entire eastern United States. In its wake, a violent angry mob of feral monsters were left to seek out those who had not already succumbed. Weak on their own, devastating in mass.
- The Infected can vault pallets at the same speed as windows. Pallets can be broken using the active ability button.
- Every time The Infected gets stunned or enters a locker (via the active ability button), they die.
- While dead, The Infected moves faster and cannot be seen, heard, or interacted with. However, they cannot interact with survivors, break generators or pallets, or see blood, scratch marks, and survivor auras.
- The Infected can spawn anywhere as long as they are not within line of site of a survivor. Alternatively, The Infected can enter any locker to respawn.
PERKS
Boomer Bile
A strange adaptation has turned a potential threat into an opportunity to mark prey.
Any Survivors that are within 12 meters of the Killer when the Killer is stunned will have their auras revealed for 2/4/6 seconds.
"Don't let him spew on you." ~ Nick
Don't Anger the Witch
Every bit of abuse you receive just adds to your desire to slaughter the survivors where they stand.
After being stunned or blinded 8 times, all survivors suffer from the exposed status for 40/50/60 seconds.
"Kill the light man." ~ Louis
Alert the Horde
The survivors weren't careful and have now lost each other to the sound of the oncoming horde.
Become obsessed with one survivor.
Whenever the Obsession generates a noise notification, gain a token. At 6 tokens, a 32 meter terror radius is applied to the other survivors for 20/25/30 seconds. Survivors can hear the terror radius applied to them. At the end of the effect, the counter resets to 0.
You can only be obsessed with one survivor at a time.
"OH [BAD WORD]! Watch out!" ~ Coach
ADD-ONs
- Charger series: Increase movement speed while dead.
- Hunter series: Can see blood pools/auras/scratch marks while dead depending on rarity (most likely rare to ultrarare; each rarity only reveals one of the previously listed)
- Jockey series: Increase vault speed.
- Smoker series: Terror radius is suppressed for a period of time after respawning.
- Spitter series: Destroys the pallet that stunned you after 6/4/2 seconds.
- Ultrarare The Tank: Can no longer die or vault pallets. The survivor that stuns you is afflicted with the exposed status affect for 15 seconds. Receive 3% haste for 15 seconds after being stunned.
COSMETICS
Due to the variety of infected models and uncommon infected in the game, there would be no shortage of designs to use or draw inspiration from.
- any of the common infected seen in the game
- the uncommon infected (Clowns, riot gear, construction worker, etc)
- cough Jimmy Gibbs Jr. cough
- hand based weaponry (missing/bloody fingers, brass knuckles, gloves, rings)

Do you have any balancing opinions on anything here? Like for The Tank I’m not sure how much use it would get directly. Like the issue with Deathslinger’s ultra rare and Iron Maiden where the exposed effect is more difficult to take advantage of. The only use I can think of would be people being forced to drop pallets early.
