New official lore - The Entity is Extraterrestrian

So yesterday the DBD Mobile team dropped a new update, and there is something which wasn't in the patch notes and I discovered it after creating an alt account and these lore videos popped up during the tutorials.

Here I let you the videos from DBD mobile with lore of the entity, the observer, the survivors and the killers. The origin of the observer is explained here. You can watch the videos with the links I leave here, or in-game (dbd mobile> settings>tutorials).

The entity and the observer (main lore):

The survivors:

The Killers:

Eeeh, that doesn't really say the Entity is extraterrestrial. We just see The Entity approach a planet (that doesn't look like Earth at all to me) from space, which while pretty crazy for The Entity to do in terms of publically revealing itself isn't really new information. We already knew it migrates from universe to universe picking out things it likes and wants to feed off.

I certainly wouldn't call this an Observer origin story either, really doubt the guy in that scene is him.

I think the two most significant things here are:

Apparently the Observer knows of Survivors who aren't actually aware of the Trials' looping nature and just experience everything fresh each time. My first instinct is to say that maybe this applies to the licensed Survivors, characters like Laurie might not be aware of the Trials and shenanigans like that, and from her perspective, might be re-living that 1978 Halloween every single new Trial, just with different circumstances. Or, every time Ash wakes up in a trial, from his memory he's only just now travelled to The Entity's realm. (which I kinda like because that'd make the first thought in Ash's head "groovy" at the start of every single trial. This is my headcanon now)

We don't know the 100% full story with this but we see Evan picking a fight with The Entity. He has clearly been already tortured but I think the shot afterward implies further punishment, as more metal impaling him is brought into focus and the Entity's tendrils shrink back from him in the shot. I think this means we can assume Evan's relationship with The Entity is one where he infrequently tries to fight it every now and then, as opposed to one where he refused to kill at first, got all the torture we see on his body today, then became a non-rebellious Killer. Would honestly really like to see his thought process during trials illuminated more, especially given his abusive relationship with his father.

All "extraterrestrial" means is that the thing exists or belongs to a place outside of Earth. So in the most literal sense, the Entity has always been very blatantly extraterrestrial.

oh wow, I actually didn't notice the importance of that sentence. Good one.

Yeah, that was a huge reveal. The way it was framed also seemed to directly imply, if not state, that Claudette, and likely Dwight as well, will eventually escape their endless suffering, which is honestly all I've ever wanted from the Lore since the game began. :)

Seeing evan trying to fight the entity is kind of satisfying

Agreed, I hope that when this game eventually goes the route of Payday 2, a sad but inevitable fate for any multiplayer game that knows when its time is up, they have a satisfying conclusion that either leads to a sequel with new characters or a potential spinoff series of higher quality.

Mine headcanon is that if at some point survs understood how to escape for real, some of them will decide to stay anyway, to teach this knowledge to others. The refusal will be the great act of benevolence, leading to not necessarily happy ending, but, to satisfying one.

Maybe we’ll be seeing some of the extraterrestrial killers it’s recruited soon. Alien/Predator for licensed. I could see a collaboration between XCOM and other games as well!

And the possibilities are endless for original content!

The Entity is a Lovecraftian god. We have already known this since day 1.

The thing that we did not know is what @Mikeadatrix has just pointed out: that people will escape it. That killers have escaped it.

This would bring out interesting possibilities in the future: Where are these characters going to? What are the killers going to do? Are they brought back to their time? Or their own world (Multiple universes exist confirmed by tome 2)?

    So many questions open up.
