Campers

So I had a post that someone got a little toxic on and the people he attacked flagged my thread and it got deleted. So thanks for that.

my question was why do killers camp? I have my own ideas and I’m not asking for the opinions of people that don’t play as killer. I was once a killer main until everyone kept DC’ing on me. So I made the move to survivor and have stayed pretty much to do that role but I get why people were DC’ing. Campers.

So my question is why do you camp? What makes you think that strategy works? I mean you get jack all for blood points so I don’t see the point.

Please help me understand why you need a crutch like that to play because maybe you don’t realize or don’t care but it really takes away from the fun of the game. No one wants to wait in the long queues that can happen just to get downed and face camped.

I normally play legit, but sometimes get bored and bust out the LeatherFaceCamp build. I do it to ruin other peoples fun times, simple as that, the toxicity after the match only proves I achieve my goal.

Whenever I hear about it, its usually because they just got defeated by a toxic team, so they lash back by camping.

Borrowed Time is certainly the best way of dealing with a camping killer.

As to the reasons why they do it, it's mainly when a Survivor annoyed the Killer by t-bagging, flashlight clicking, running them around for long etc., because the other Survivors are nearby/they can't find other Survivors, or because they don't know any better.

The problem is, in my experience, defining 'camping'. A straight up facecamp? Yeah, that's #########. There's no reason for that. Patrolling the hook? Okay, I guess. Patrolling is very contextual: if there's an objective or something nearby (like a half-complete gen) that you want to guard, sure. Just doing a flyby on your way somewhere else, or setting up as hag/trapper? Not camping or patrolling. Yet these all get called 'camping' by some people

I never camp. I find it boring and actually it only works to lessen one's skill level.

With that said, besides bubba, most campers can be countered. It's the early game tunnelers that really bother me.

I understand when exit doors are open, and perhaps your running, No Ones Even Dead yet perk. But I still feel your better of roaming and finding others.

as long as you keep falling for it it'll keep working. Personally i never do it but if a killer is camping either they are annoyed at that survivor in particular, they are bad ( be careful of your judgement on that they could be a rank 1 for all you know). If a killer is camping just ditch the survivor on hook and do gens so all 3 of you can get out. if you don't have borrowed don't even try and get them off you'll just be wasting your time.

People who defend camping and tunneling are the same type who don’t understand the reasons people play SWF over Solo

it just hurts you, you don’t learn how to play, same reason I dislike Bamboozle, you are letting the game help you win instead of learning how to play

So you derive pleasure from ruining other's gameplay? As in, you actually go out of your way to ruin other's gameplay and gain even more positive sources of pleasure from getting confirmation that you've managed to ruin other players' gameplay of that match/their day on the chat afterwards because you are bored?

Depends on what type of camper you have.

You have the "Competitive" Campers, who only camp to ensure they get as many kills as possible. They wait until the last gen is done before camping, and MAYBE even until the exit gates are open. The rest of the game, they play like a normal killer and usually leave the hook. This type of killer is mostly honorable. Some might be a bit toxic, and hit you on the hook, though. No, Mr. Killer. I want my struggle points. And who knows, maybe my team will come back with a flashlight.

You have the "One Kill Please" Campers, who won't camp in normal circumstances -- even in end game -- but if they haven't got a kill, by whatever means necessary they will get that one kill. This type isn't too bad to play with, either.

You have the "Salty" Campers who are just salty about something in the game. If the survivor is good, they'll probably camp them. Flashlight save? Camp! Did a Gen in my face? Camp! Finished a Gen I kicked 5 minutes ago? Camp!

You have the "Toxic Avengers" Campers, who only camp people who teabag them or flashlight click them incessantly. Treat them fair, and they'll probably treat you fair.

You have the "Toxic" Campers who basically want to ruin other people's fun. These are the most hypocritical type, because they'll moan and groan as soon as survivors ruin THEIR game. And they'll use that to justify their toxicity, but the truth is they're just toxic people anyway. Since when did two wrongs make a right?

You have the "I suck at this game" Campers who camp because it's the only way they know how to win. A lot of rank 15's and worse are this type. They've yet to face Survivors who know what they're doing, so they usually get 4K's this way. So they think they're good at the game, and then when they get to the higher ranks, they complain about how unbalanced the game is because camping isn't getting them 4K's anymore. And even NoED isn't doing the job! WHATS GOING ON HERE I THOUGHT KILLER WAS THE POWER ROLE! CAMPING IS STRATEGY! NERF DS!

You have the "Meme" Campers, who do it for the memes. Usually Leatherface. Just stay out of the basement. And if you must go down there, don't touch the chest. They think it's funny. It's usually not. But they are mostly harmless.

You have the "I think I'm clever!" campers who play wraith and think "I just got the BEST IDEA EVER! I'm going to play Wraith and go invisible but stay at the hook so I can get another down! Man, why didn't anyone ELSE think of this? I should totally apply to MENSA." They aren't actually clever, and are just doing what pretty much half of the people who play wraith does.

And you have the "Nothing left to do" Camper. Who usually wait until the exit gates are powered before camping. They might not camp if the hook is near the exit gate, and they can chase some survivors out.

I'd say that covers most of the reasons people camp. Some people fit into multiple categories. Personally I used to be the "I suck at this game" camper mixed with "Salty" Camper. I would never camp at 5 gens, but I'd definitely start camping when there were 2 or 3 gens left. Then I grew as a player, gained some better perks, and now I only camp in end game when there's nothing left to do.

@dreofanarchy you said "you stopped playing killer when everyone dc'ed on you", Then you go on to say why people dc'ed was due to campers why did you camp?

Also I will camp if I see scratch marks near the hook or survivor Trying to unhook while I am still there. Also all gens done to get one kill.
