They're Killing the New Maps
Just watched Kings video on the new maps and I have but one thing to say. They're killing the maps. They're deleting a lot of pallets and replacing it making them look completely empty and unfair, I understand it's PTB but holy ######### I would be upset. No killer would ever lose nearly. This is sad fix it please! makes the game easy af for us killers...

It's fine, just play immersed against the roster of stealth killers, any high mobility killer, or any killer running some of the super strong tracking perks.

IKR! They want us to "hide" yet they have Doctor and other killers like him. NOT ONLY THAT but they have PERKS that give you away no matter what...how does this work properly? What're they thinking? I feel like ######### cause it makes me sound like a salty survivor main but genuinely this makes me feel awful for survivors in general. There's no way a killer can lose on these new maps. Some will but it's going to be hard to lose with this.

What "super strong" tracking perks do we have? Every single one is hard countered by lockers except Whispers, and that's very imprecise, even at T3

We don’t know what the final version will be included in the patch but it is a clear step in the right direction.

I play red rank killer and red rank survivor. I can tell you firsthand that the changes are balanced. survivor only players don't understand how favored some maps are for them.
the devs have nerfed the extremely survivor sided maps... or the relatively balanced maps with a couple exploitable window loops. trust me from someone who plays both sides they're making the right move.

I've been both red ranked survivor and killer. Maps are favored but that doesn't mean make them empty. Period. It's unfair and chases won't last long, the way this game is set up is for chases to last while survivors do gens. You can't hide and get things done. The killer's goal is to patrol gens correct? All he has to do is go back and fourth between gens and mark which ones are being worked on consistently. If survivors didn't loop there'd be rarely any gens getting done. I do believe that some pallets should be removed, don't get me wrong, however I don't think maps should be as empty as they're making them is all. Again I have ZERO issues with them removing pallets and making some pallets go poof, however I hope the maps aren't as empty as they were in the PTB.

"We" implies you only play killer, which drastically skews your opinions of the game. Whispers with good map knowledge allows you to pinpoint your first chase of the game, which is arguably the most important. It also means the last survivor in the game will never get away from you, especially if you close the hatch.
There is surveillance, which is perfect information, and arguably one of the best killer late-game perks.
There is monitor and abuse, which allows many killers to get to a 16m or 8m terror radius, completely uncountable except by spine chill.
There is infectious fright, which is borderline overpowered on any 1 shot killer.
There is BBQ, which can be countered by lockers but more often than not gives you a wealth of information as well as double bloodpoints.
And finally, there is nurses calling, which is almost uncounterable on any stealth killer, except by spine chill.

But the dev's have not touched some of the extremely overpowered killers. Why do Freddy and Spirit still exist in the state that they are? Hag is also sleeper overpowered, but nobody plays her so there are few complaints. Killers have a wealth of broken add-ons to call upon while survivors at this point basically have....keys? And keys are lategame. An ivory mori can end the game at 5 gens left.

They're not nerfing Survivors directly. They're just re-balancing maps that were too Survivor sided.
It's not like reducing Window vault speeds by 20% or bumping exhaustion perks up to 50 seconds. Nothing core is directly being nerfed on Survivors. And on the untouched maps there's literally nothing different

There are some very survivor sided maps, but they made no mention of touching some of the very killer sided maps. The fact they are not touching Hawkins is a joke to me. Plenty of red rank killers already adapted to the current maps by using overpowered characters or builds. I can see them trying to balance the game around red rank SWF, but that leaves the other 90% of the survivor population out in the cold.
This is exactly how deathgarden died, by catering to a 5 man on comms instead of the solo Q players, who make up the majority of the game.

Big deadzones are not good, but any of the intended changes to the maps are more than welcome.

Maps like Hawkins, The Game and Haddonfield probably won't be touched much simply because they're from the licensed properties so the Devs would have to get approval of any changes they make, which is probably more time and money than its worth

Those killer's aren't overpowered. They're just strong because they play their cards right.
3 -
Pretty sure they've already said that only changed a single pallet on a single map in a single location.
1 -
Mmmhmmm. DBD is essentially going to be a SWF game only moving forward. *shrug*

They said "they have reduced the number of maze tiles" aka reduced the number of jungle gyms by turning them into unsafe pallets. Pallets that are a free hit to any overpowered killer or killer who can afford the time to bloodlust. Please read into the facts before making a statement?

Better to make maps underpowered than overpowered. Although I agree these dead zones have to be a mistake and aren't balanced at all.

Shut up please, for the only times the Devs do something intelligent

The only map with reduced pallet spawns is The Asylum, which now has 2 main building pallets instead of the ridiculous 4. No changes are going live that haven't been listed in the Dev notes, which means that maps do not have reduced pallets. Some old maps just have reduced loop safety, for which I am grateful as both survivor and killer. And if there is a bug forcing less pallets to spawn, well, finding that crap is what a ptb is FOR.
2 -
Making the game unfair and near impossible was the issue they were trying to fix. Shifting the victims of these problems is not something I would call an "intelligent" move.
2 -
Darn, they're actually fixing the problematic maps that currently are insanely one sided for survivors. What a shame.
3 -
They're complaining about some maps that have probably mistakenly become insanely advantageous for killers. Please be considerate.

Perhaps Blood Lodge, yes. But from what I've seen the majority of the farm maps and Macmillian maps are fantastic. The new maps are almost all balanced. The only ones I'm not a fan of are specifically the Azarov ones. But those weren't the maps I was referring to.
2 -
Okay how considerate of you to refer to maps OP wasn't.
0 -
You mean it isn't already a swf only game?
tell that to the lobbies i get.
0 -
It is really not that bad. It will encourage you survivor mains (who only play survivor) to get better, to have skill.
3 -
Whispers is largely pointless outside of those two scenarios, as you can generally assume a survivor will be on one of the gens or on the way to the guy you hooked. The hooked person even messes with your Whispers
Surveillance is mid-tier at best, as you almost never want to kick a generator without PGTW, and there are MANY other perks that are better used
M&A literally isn't even a tracking perk so it's not even worth discussing in this context
Infectious is hard countered by simply splitting up, which is already the meta for genrushing anyways due to coop penalties. It's also hard countered by Calm Spirit, which ALSO negates 75% of The Doctor, who survivors seem to love complaining about
BBQ is obscenely easy to counter. when the survivor goes down, immediately move to a locker. if that isnt possible, position the generator between you and the killer to the best of your ability to obscure your aura with the generator's. Alternatively, you can pretend to be moving toward a different generator, then double back when the aura reading wears off. If the survivor was downed near you, you can also try getting closer to simply avoid BBQs range
Nurse is easily countered by not healing in the TR, and you should really be running Spine Chill anyways, since it renders stealth killers into M1 status, and tells you if a Killer is approaching or just chasing somebody near you. It even gives you a 6% speed boost to ALL actions, including vaulting
2 -
Like I said, the large majority of the new maps are fine. The OP is complaining about the new maps in general, when they're actually almost all fine for both sides. Its not a bad thing to reduce pallets on maps already infested with a large quantity of safe pallets to begin with.

"Whispers is pointless" says a baby killer. When plenty of the best killers in the game, including OhTofu, almost never play without it.
"M&A" isn't even a tracking perk when killers like Micheal Myers get to an 8m terror radius with it, allowing them to find anyone working on a generator without spine chill.
"Infectious is counted by splitting up" which discounts the fact that alot of the killers running it are also running monitor, allowing the terror radius to be up to 40m. Good luck hiding from a 40m terror radius on a map like the game.
"Just get in a locker every time someones goes down", except maybe your team isn't doing that. And that means unless you let the killer chase you for free, you might just lose the game because your team is garbage.
"Don't heal inside the terror radius". But what about when nurses is a 28m range, and you can get your terror radius to 8m or 16m with perks?
It's like people don't think before they speak.

Notice how I only said Whispers is pointless OUTSIDE of it's god-tier points. Like you said, getting the first chase done fast can make or break your game. it's the same reason Corrupt and (formerly) Ruin are so common despite only lasting for early game
Being able to get the drop on survivors =/= a tracking perk. Tracking perks tell you where they are, they do NOT help you get to them. You're thinking of stealth perks.
By the same token, perks like Whispers and Chili suck on those maps for the very same reason. And on the Game, Lery's, and Hawkins, there are MANY places to move to and hide before the killer gets to you thanks to the copious amounts of walls and LOS blockers
Teammates being stupid doesn't mean Chili is good, it means your teammates suck.
If you can't guess that a NURSE is running Nurse's Calling, I genuinely cannot help you

Hahahahahaha overpowered killers like Freddy and Spirit you say

When it comes to facing off against a killer. Yeah, it normally very reasonable to think a killer is running with one of their starting perks. Unless it's furtive chase on a ghostface, i think you will only really see that if they are going for an adept or have yet to unlock anything else, like pop or something. Since if you are facing bubba, odds are they have bbq. Spirit? Haunted grounds or as i like to call it, hello tier 3 Myers or It's a trap. Sure this might not always be the case but if someone is worry about a certain perk, it might be worth making sure to remember the killer's starting perks. Since if it one of their starting perks, the odds of the killer having it, is way more likely.
Yeah hopefully the devs are looking into this, since a few people have brought them up now [deadzones that is]. So hopefully everything works out well in the end.
