A change to the pre-game lobbies.
Since I've played, I haven't been too fond of the way the pregame lobby works. This is something that primarily impacts survivor play, but it has been something that caused me issue before. Being in a lobby where a killer sees your name and character isn't inherently bad, but I do have a few specific people I regularly play against that will bring a mori just for me to get me out of the game as soon as possible. I'm not the only person who has experienced this, and I know it causes a bit of stress for some people that see it often.
I have a proposed change for the lobbies, that would help with this, while also adding some fun variations to pregame waiting.
In this new lobby, the killer would not see the survivors, and the survivors would see themselves around a campfire. They would have idle animations that could be purchases or unlocked via the rift. As an example, Kate could be playing a guitar, Claudette could be mixing some plants she found. Killers will have unique animations as well that would appear afterwards.
The 5 tally marks would still appear to give indication of a fully lobby. Once everyone is readied or the time has ended and the match would start, an entirely new animation would play, which would be visible by all 5 parties.
The 4 survivors in the lobby would stand up from the fire, and walk into the fog, this would allow the killer to see the appearances of their survivors, so they know what to look for in the match. The killer would then follow them into the fog using their special animation. Perhaps Legion could enter Frenzy and rush in, for Huntress you may see a hatchet fly forward into the fog instead of her walking. Killers would have an option set before the game, per killer, to either have them follow with an animation, or simply have a first person camera view that does not reveal the killer identity. If you want to be sneaky, you don't jeopardize that. Since survivors will generally know who the killer is within the first 30 seconds, regardless of SWF or not, stealth killers could opt to just follow with an animation, perhaps Wraith would walk forward and ring his bell, shrouding himself before following.
This would allow the killer to see their competitors so they wouldn't be completely blind, and allow for a fresh experience where you do not know who you will be competing against until the match has started. It would add a bit more mystery and suspense, and stop some potentially bad play against specific groups. The only real flaw I can find with this is that stealth killers might be seen earlier, which is why the first person option for following would be in place. This would not show weapons or powers.
Do you think this kind of change would be enjoyable?
