5 minute matchmaking ban because of soft crash
Another generic post about how matchmaking bans are a good idea but poorly executed.
1) there has to be some sort of leniency with bans. Obviously, first one is free but the player gets a warning.
2) The player should never be punished because the game crashed/ the servers broke. Also very obvious.
Cause of crash: I was playing Freddy and someone DC'd at the start of the match, so (later in the game) I alt tab to give the survivors more time (4 gens left after 8 minutes, they were new). the game freezes for a few seconds, cuts to the loading screen, and put me in the lobby with a "lost connection to servers" message.

you actually made a post about having to wait 5 minutes due to your game crashing on you for once?

If you wouldn't get a DC penalty for a crashed game people would find a way to crash their game on purpose and we would be having the same problem again

there would be some basis to your argument if the game was stable. While it's not as glitchy as some people say it is, There are a lot of mechanical problems with the game.
Yes. if you mention an issue it's more likely to be solved. This isn't the first time either.

you crashed.....thats an issue on your end....you left the game against the rules, intentional or not, you get a dc penalty for that.

I’ve had it happen to me where the end screen shows 2 survivors (one was Me) and the killer all DC, and I eat a 5 minute penalty. Who’s to say that was me and not them? Or are you implying that all three of us crashed at once and it wasn’t the game?

Game is stable enough for me. I think i only had once that the game crashed and gave me a DC penalty since the penalty's are a thing
Are you sure it's not on your end?
Have you verified your game cache files after the crash happened?

5 minutes is nothing.
I've had my game crash multiple times in day, and got a much bigger penalty. That's where the problem lies.

I've DC'd once because of internet connection issues. By the time I got my WiFi back up, the 5 minutes was over and I didn't even notice it happened. When I continued to have laggy games that day, I stopped playing. Stopping is always an option if connectivity (for any reason) is bungled and you don't want to eat the penalties.
Also I'm pretty sure yesterday BHVR mentioned they were having issues on their end and were working toward fixing them but they wouldn't all be rolled out at the same time. So if this was yesterday, maybe it was from that.

If that’s the case they should find a way to “not count,” DCs for the day... I know that would let some people off the hook but if they announced it the day after then people couldn’t just willy nilly DC
