Description of Issue
It doesn't seem to happen with any particular trigger, as I've had this problem occur countless times over the past couple of months. It is just that the frustration has now gone too far. More often than not it happens while I play killer. I'll be playing the match perfectly fine, and as I perform some sort of action the game will freeze. Audio will continue to loop, such as the groaning of an injured survivor, but the game will not respond and no actions (CTRL + ALT + Del) or (ALT + TAB) will allow me to escape the window. After 20 to 30 seconds, the game begins responding but simply throws me out to the results screen as if I disconnected (followed by a penalty to pips and a soft ban).
Additional Information
- It happens in either role, though I've most often seen it as a killer.
- Perks, maps, and load-outs have been completely different between instances.
- It seems to happen once every 8 to 12 games, and has been occurring for a couple of months. I have played at a couple different locations (physically) and it has happened at both.
- It is inconsistent in when it happens, and the action that I may have taken before the freeze could easily have been an action I had been doing the whole game (hooking a survivor, for example).
