Questions about team play from a new player
Hi everyone - I finally decided to download the game after watching people play it on Twitch for awhile. I have a couple questions about being a good team member;
- If I'm working on a gen and a teammate is hooked, should I stop working on that gen and try to unhook them asap (assuming they are somewhat close to me)? I assume I keep working on it if it's nearly powered up, but what if it's like half way done?
- Is it okay to escape if the doors are open while other players are still injured or hooked, or, should I try to heal or unhook them before escaping? I've seen some players on stream go back for hooked players after the doors are open, only to get caught by the killer themselves. Should I GTFO immediately, or go back and try to help?
I want to be a good teammate and not seem selfish, but I also don't want to make poor decisions that result in nobody surviving vs a couple of us making it out.
Thanks in advance for the help!

1. If the gen is close to being completed, complete it. If you're on the opposite side of the map, stay there. Is the killer camping, continue to do gens. Otherwise try and go for the save.
2. If you think you can get the save, then try, but always have a plan before going into it.

Unless you know you'll be able to unhook them, than go for it. If the Killer is just camping them until they die, than it's more beneficial for the rest of your team to just continue doing gens. Why? Because if your entire team is trying to kite the Killer away from the hook, that wastes time that could've been spent on the other Generators. This is especially the case if it's someone like Leatherface who could insta-down both the unhooker and the hooked Survivor easily, so I wouldn't bother going for a Survivor that's being camped by an insta-down Killer.
As for the last part, that's mostly subjective if you want me to be honest. It's up to you to decide if it's not worth the effort to save someone during the End Game Collapse, but if you think a Survivor is for sure dead OR something like NOED is active, than it's ok to bail on that entirely. If you want to attempt to rescue them or try to break NOED and get them, than that's more "fulfilling" to some players as well, hence why they go and do it regardless of their own death.
But again, it's all subjective for that last question. If you want to leave than you can leave, if you want to be a hero than you can try and save the other Survivor and escape with them. You're not obligated to do this because other players do it, nor are you supposed to do it because other Survivors tell you to.

1 If you are too far away its not worth the time, eventually somebody else will go for it. IF you see he is about to get into phase 2 you might want to be there to save before that, it really depends.
2 you can go if you have a plan as they told you.
usually if noed is up and hook/killer nearby you play your gtfo card, unless you know you can trust your teammates and wanna try a hooktrade to get rid of noed. But w/e just getting out is fine if the situation is hopeless even if they flame you cause you didnt suicide to save them.
