It is up to the Killer to make the game fun!

Dead by Daylight is only fun when the Killer makes it fun.

Killer "camps", "tunnels", mori's, uses NOED, hooks or chases survivors, or heaven forbid stay around a hook when a survivor is hooked and the gates are open, then game is not fun and Killer is "toxic".

At the end of the day if you have fun in this game as a Survivor then you have pretty much run the Killer to the point of them being infuriated, used DS to get a last second escape, found hatch seconds before Killer, had your SWF team flashlight and sabotage hooks every time Killer picks someone up.

You have not enjoyed it when Killer kills you or a few Survivors in a match.

Game is frustrating for someone and pretty much guarantee that whenever a Killer is "camping" your hook, that Killer has had a pretty bad time last hour or so against other Survivors.

Every bit of fun in this game is at the Killer's expense. And frankly, Survivors get little sympathy from me when they try and trash talk in at the end of a match.

Want to add here as well, that if Killer plays match "fair" and hooks one and moves on and never goes near that hook again, Survivors will have fun, game will be less "toxic" but Killer is what, penalised by dropping points, pips, whatever it is because Survivors want them to play "fair".

So killers should intentionally throw games for survivors to escape and feel like the did something? If i hook someone and a survivor is standing around the hook of course i wont just let him unhook him for free.

Very hard to have fun with survivors when they abuse SWF and map design.

    how can you “abuse” swf...

its not like pressing the swf button magically makes the group a top 10 sweat squad

I try to have fun and don't see the problem with letting the survivors have fun too, but it really depends on if they even want to have "fun."

That being said, it's not the killer's job to be in charge of making sure everybody's needs are met. The only needs the killer has to be concerned with are the killer's. It would be a lot easier anyway if killers did want to let survivors have fun if there were easy rules to follow, but everybody makes up their own rules so it's just way too much of a hassle to even care.

Voice communication is pretty much abuse imo. Being able to communicate valuable information among all four players is a huge advantage.

I agree that a big part of the fun is dependant on the killer. Gotta disagree that it's at the killers expense. I've gotten plenty of Merciless killer double pip 4k's that had comments after from survivors saying how much they enjoyed my pig match. It's entirely possible for both parties to have a lot of fun regardless of outcome. Heck I've had matches that were 2k's but they played damn good and made the last two gens happen despite losing their two potatoes. It was a lot of fun for both parties and was a heck of a game. I think you are taking everything too personally if you think fun is always at the expense of the other party. You don't have to 4k to have fun as killer, you don't need to survive to have fun as survivor.

It's a game, go in to have fun, try not to be an #########, do your best to win but don't take anything personally. The game wouldn't be balanced if you won 100% of the time.

This is a PvP game where both sides have two very conflicting main objectives. They are constantly working against each other. Thus when one side is having fun, the other side typically isn't as they are not accomplishing that objective. A lot of this is because fun is interpreted as all 4 survivors getting out or all 4 survivors dying. There is no middle ground. You can die as a survivor and still have fun. You can get less than 4 kills as killer and still have fun.

As a killer main I typically am happy to hook and kill half the group, that is the sweet spot for a game that seems like fun for almost everyone. The problem here is the problem all games have, people who play for fun vs people who play to win.

You can be a fun person if you play to win, but If you only have fun when you win then you are no fun and probably shouldn't play games.

Yeah I get rolled by SWF teams and flashlight sabo teams usually what they are holding on the load screen tells me if this is going to be a great game or a beatdown. In those circumstances you're forced to meta a little and slug, camp etc becaus otherwise they'll just out meta you. You make me loop chase you for five minutes I might just camp your hook a lil and take you down again, becasue I don't want to chase you again. You're good. I want you dead it makes my game easier and probably hinders your team more. This is strategy and what the game is about.

I have fun regardless, a couple of chases, one hook no sacs bummer oh well reload and have fun again. I think the issue in online gaming is the ranking system people feel they need to rank up and get angry if they can't or don't. I know its used to balance out who plays who but it does seem to create a lot of resentment. Also I learned a long time ago that the top tiers of any online game is where the real dumpster fire of human psychology exists, I'll stay low to mid ranked thanks.
