A discussion on Chapter 16 and why I believe it might be licensed.
Hi lovely forum members, since we should be seeing teasers coming for the new chapter within a week or two I decided to start up a discussion about it in anticipation. So, before I ramble on, please watch this recent vid by Paulie Esther.
So, like Paulie said, if Scott's to be believed and what Paulie speculates, it truly sounds like a licensed chapter that's on it's way for Chap. 16. Too make matters even more interesting, Scott specifically said "IT" which, to me, it's beginning to sound like it could possibly be another beast/monster/creature type of killer we could get. I'd love for this to be my fabled dream Resident Evil chapter with Jill and Nemesis but I'd love any new type of monster killer but what do you all think? Really looking forward to what your theories could entail.

I like everyone else want jason so bad! Sadly to the lawsuits that wont happen for a long time, Pennywise would be really cool as well.

In my opinion I think it has to be a girl licensed killer and a boy survivor I think it might be tiffiney valentine from child’s play and Andy all grown up or someone else like samara from the ring and someone else idk because I haven’t watched the ring

I'd love Carrie. That movie is just such a classic, but how they'd implement it? No clue. If we get IT, I can just imagine all of the Clown VS Clown or Clown bro comics. I'd rather like them to fix up old clown before adding a new one though, and it is a bit of a redundant theme.
Samara is depicted as a child, so I wouldn't count on it. They're against adding children into the game -- or at the very least, noticeably a child. They could age her I suppose.

I should be more clear, when I said Scott said "IT" I mean more along the lines of a monster like Demogorgon. Other then a Resident Evil chapter, another chapter I'd adore seeing is a Alien chapter.

Yeah, this virus screwed up so much, we were pretty close to the end of the lawsuit as well. Here's hoping we could see a new monster coming for the next chapter.

My most wanted killer is a robot/android type. Specifically a Terminator T-800. Besides that, if Scott really implied an "it", then a Xeno would be a nice surprise for an anniversary.

Honestly, robots and androids never even crossed my mind. A Terminator would actually be super cool. I'll always have a soft spot for monsters though so, of course, I'd personally want Nemesis or a Xenomorph or whatever other licensed monster more but a Terminator definitely has a spot. Plus BHVR has worked with FOX before.

If we got a Child's Play chapter, everyone would go mad if it wasn't chucky. Tiffany just doesn't have the same effect on people that chucky does

Honestly, I don't think there's any logical basis for what Paulie's speculating. He could be right, or wrong, but there's no real reason to believe one way over the other.
Let's assume that Scott does know who the next killer is, and for argument's sake we'll assume that the killer is female and non-licensed. In that context, it would make just as much sense for Scott to use the ambiguous phrase "it's not Candyman" (not only because he's trying not to give anything away, but because that phrasing actually makes the most grammatical sense, with "it" being substituted for "the next killer").
It would also make just as much sense for him to refuse to give any more away, regardless of whether it's licensed or not - I love Paulie, but his theory that Scott would only say he knew "what" the killer was if he had heard a name that meant something to him makes very little sense. Scott could equally be referring simply to the name itself when he says he knows "what" it is - like a Nurse, or a Spirit, or a Clown. He doesn't need to understand what that name means to be able to claim that, especially since he just compared his knowledge of the new killer to his knowledge of Deathslinger before he came out, and it sounds like the name was all he had there as well.

It should be Angela Johnson from Sleepaway Camp. She'll find you bullying the other killers and give you a stern talking to as she drills your guts out.

Now to be completely fair to Paulie, that's just the nature of speculation, you could be right(like when he talked about Ghostface and especially ST) get stuff completely wrong(Pinhead) or land in-between, like his smasher speculation. Now, with Scott, I'll be honest, seeing how he's known about and hinted about the last four killers, I'm just kinda rolling with what he says. You make a very good point on him seemingly only knowing the name and not much else. With that said though, with the way he was actively mentioning how people were just trying to ask about specific license's until they nail it, does personally l lead me to believe it's licensed. That's just me personally though, we'll see soon enough though!

Jill + Nemmy is also my dream DLC but sadly it's honestly just not going to happen. Jill is already in Resident Evil Resistance and it's reported that Nemesis is gonna make his way into that game this month.

I still don't believe that whole thing. Resistance is so vastly different from DBD that I just can't compare it, other then the 4v1 aspect. Plus, they did partner with a competing game before, history could repeat itself which I'd love.

Haha, I understand. And I'm not saying Paulie is necessarily wrong, and of course it's fine to speculate without any real basis to it. All I'm saying is that the basis Paulie is presenting for believing what he does doesn't really hold much weight, so I wouldn't be inclined to assume that the next killer is licensed just based on what he's saying.

Yeah, won't lie, he is putting a LOT of faith in Scott's word but he definitely seems to think his voice holds weight. We'll just have to wait and see, we all have our hopes and wants in the end afterall. ^_^

For the record, stuff I've known has been both right and wrong and I am by no means a reliable source of info for leaks, nor would I leak the stuff if I did know it because thats a dbag move.

I meant Paulie's argument rather than Scott's statements, but yeah, we will wait and see.
I have been safe at home - my mum is really careful about the whole thing - and generally doing better than most, all things considered. I hope things are good on your end as well 😊

Pennywise would be cool, but I really don't want a killer named "The It", The Ghost Face is bad enough. Plus it'd be weird too have a god like Pennywise too be controlled by the Entity, just doesn't seem realistic.
Jason would always be awesome but with the Lawsuit still going it'll be a bit before he gets added. I'm under the firm belief that Jason will be in DBD before the game dies.
My personal ones I want are My bloody Valentine chapter or a Xenomorph Chapter. My Bloody Valentine simply because I want too kill people as a miner, and Xenomoprh because It's my favorite series.

Boy I feel you on the naming thing, the IT would sound awful! xD But I think they could get around that by saying that it's not being controlled but it's more like a "guest" situation, IT can enter and leave the Entity's realm as it pleases because it's on equal level.
Yup, feel the exact same way. Plus, big J has a permanent invitation just like Pennywise does. Damn shame the lawsuit happened in the first place! >:(
A Alien chapter is definitely a top 3 dream chapter for me so seeing as how it could possibly be our next chapter is super hype for me! I do love MBV though so I do want that as well someday.

Mainly, from the way I see it, if I were Capcom, I'd definitely want them to appear in the game that would get more interest in whatever they have planned for the future because, as much as I enjoy resistance, there's just not much there currently and with rumours of support being dropped by January and the playerbase not being that big, I'd want to have a cross promotion deal going on. That's just how I view it though. :/

The playerbase is actually a pretty good size for a game that's only available through the purchase of a separate game.
That being said, Resistance definitely has a long way to go, but I think Capcom is gonna do what they can to make sure people stick to their ride.

The release date is for june 16 so 3 weeks before we get the ptb, so yea the 26 will be the big day, and maybe the week before we get a teaser

Hopefully not, tired of dumbed down horror icons. Imagine a Xenomorph that couldn't climb on walls because we know BHVR would never implement a mechanic like that.

Also Samara is too similar to the Spirit, she'd need a completely different onryo power, and flickering in and out of existence was the best one

And people always complain about Chucky being too small to hook survivors and stuff.
There are ways around that. I've suggested plenty of times to have the ghost of Charles Lee Ray appear around the doll and mimic the actions so that they can use the standard killer model for pick up interactions. It would basically be like he "grows" when picking up a survivor but in a very cool way.
In fact I have a whole design written down for how Chucky would work, power and perks and add-ons and all. I'd post it but I'm sure people would just shoot it down like they do everything on these forums.

I definitely think it's because, complete speculation right now, this was all a lead up to a Candyman chapter in June but because the movie was delayed, so is the chapter. Complete speculation on my part though!

I get it, plus, they actually get a lot of cosmetics and the archive lore expansion but the novelty of playing as these characters which are so rarely seen in games(for some anyways), is super awesome to me. So, like I said, I get it but I'll agree to disagree.

I only like characters that fit into the game like Ghostface. Something like a xenomorph would have to be dumbed down so much that players would have no interest in playing it. Couldn't careless about Archive lore, most of sounds like bad fanfiction or bad writing.

Tony Todd already confirmed he's done voice work for two games, he just was not allowed to say what. Pair that with the fact he followed both DBD and BHVR the same day the new Candyman trailer dropped...I think it's all but confirmed he's gonna be a killer in DBD. It's not a question of if, it's a question of when.
Because Candyman movie was delayed till Fall, we might see Candyman moved to Chapter 17 and 16 could be another licensed killer. Who knows.
