I have not played spirit for over a year.
The Spirit doesn't make any sense in the game, I won't have 10 hours of play with it and I can destroy survivors without problems.
I have not played this killer for more than a year (I disgust him), I really ask as a main killer to give him another nerf, in addition to being boring, he cannot provide a chase where the survivor's ability takes effect, it is simply a luck simulator (controlled by the spirit).

Yeah, I reach Rank 1 on PS4 with her every month.
I'm not going to say she's a joke, but she's a joke.
Standing still isn't mind gaming. Passively Phasing isn't mind gaming either.

Whats wrong having just ONE viable killer ?
Hag,trapper, wraith, pig, clown, nurse...etc they all trash and I easily escape them.
Spirit with all the current bugs is Hard to play. Thats why I quit DbD until next patch.
Spirit is definitely not as strong as before. So stop whining if you can easily escape all other killers.
1 -
If she does that, simply run to the other nearest pallet ... she won’t catch up to you because shes slow.
0 -
lol do you play Spirit?
If you're faking a phase, you can already easily know where they're going and start phasing.

have you noticed in the tips, standing still is suggested
0 -
Yeah, I have. But like...
What other killer can achieve the same outcome? Stand still for a free hit?
Really? It's THAT easy? lol
2 -
Yes she would know where you are if she fake it but you have plenty of time to make more moves since she can’t hear you or see you .
i personally never fake as Spirit because survivor would already be at another pallet which means I have to fake it again and then they get to another pallet.. its just a gimmicky thing only works against babies

@sekkima
How many times did you fake your phase?
0 -
All is fair in love and war. The spirit feigns phasing. You have choices to make.and guessing is choosing.

Not all of us can be the at the Marth level of killer...

I do just fine against her. Although she is a killer who depends more on her mistakes than survivors's mistakes unlike many other killers. And besides, you can still genrush. In soloQ u'll prob get destroyed but spirit still gets beaten by swf teams.

This community is so ######### weird...
We've gotten to the point to where we have to apologize for using viable characters now. I can't imagine guilt tripping or shaming another character for using tools they deem to be good in order to win. There seriously has to be a more productive way of airing our grievances than this crap. Like is it seriously wrong to have viable killers?
4 -
I got 3 free hits just now just standing still.
Don't say that she can't hear you, that she can use stridor.
She is faster in phase, the survivor has to guess which side of the pallet is placed ... but no matter she can hear you.
A survivor only has the sight to counter an assassin, the spirit denies that.
--------------
What do you mean, viable killer?
A killer that guarantees you 4K always?
I remind you that there are 4 survivors, 4 people who are still looking to have fun (of course, there are different types of survivors, adapt to each group).
But I understand you, I used to play more to kill than for fun.
You can't complain about the genrush if you go with a spirit, nurse, oni.
Regarding the nurse, I consider myself a main nurse and I usually win 4/5 games (and playing legal, it would be pretty disgusting if I slugging or tunneled).
(sorry the English).

3, all gave me free hits or made the survivor leave the structure.
1 -
Thank you for confirming.

So, because you played one match against semi-decent survivors and you 4ked, she needs a nerf? You can do this with every killer
Playonce against a good SWF team and then come back and tell me how easy it was
Also, Git Gud

He hasn't played her in a year and completely annihilated within 10 minutes or just playing her again.
0 -
so if i stand still and do nothing, not even attacking, i get free hits? ######### awesome 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
0 -
How do you know that? Is he/she your friend?
Even if he is telling the truth, the survivors he/she played against performed bad judging by their scores. I repeat you can do this with every killer
1 -
This is why I bring Iron Will all the time, that and it's a good perk anyways. It also helps that now that she isn't AS braindead as before you can start running the opposite direction(while in your scratchmarks and pass through her and make her waste her phase, but yeah, if she doesn't fall for it you're out of luck. I feel like you need Iron Will and Spine Chill to actually be able to outplay her through skill for the most part.

Spirit is a woman. Nice bait.
2 -
By that logic, EVERYONE on the forum is lying.
Including YOU.
1 -
It is, but playing spirit is just wayyy more easier getting that 4k since the killed does 99% of the job (guess if the spirit is either phasing or faking it. We all love guessing games!). the ''nerf'' she got barely do something and of the course, the ''git gud'' can't never be missed (and I guess the response is either run spine chill , iron will or git gud)

How do you know they performed badly instead of OP just having that much pressure? Spirit was hardly touched. Not saying she needed to be, as bad spirits are still pretty bad if you know how to abuse them thanks to the changes, but isn't Autohaven one of the maps that was reduced in size? If that's the case wouldn't that mean Spirit would benefit as well as others(actually moreso)?

I used to main spirit before I realized how disgusting it is, she needs a clear tell like every other killer. inb4 bUt tHe shArDs gLOw
otz summarized this video best:
So just record the game and play it back slowly to carefully analyze each frame. Spirit DOES have counter play after all. Thanks Scott.

It's always been odd to me seeing posts like this. When I play against Spirit, it's one of the more fun chases I can have. To be fair though, I'm not one of those people that'll see her standing at a pallet and try to vault towards her. I also main her along with Legion and Trapper so I know what works against me and use that on others.
Feel like most people just panic when facing against her though, instead of actually thinking for a moment. For example the "pallet stand-off" one of the things so many complain about. Instead of making a random guess or just standing at the pallet, why not sprint away for 1 second then go a completely different direction? Assume she's doing both.
If you get injured and you hold forward, you can hear her phase almost every time, meaning she's on you. So why not head straight towards where she was before and make her more-than-likely shoot past you?
If you're running to a pallet or window and you see her pause behind you, as often happens, why not fake the vault and walk back or drop the pallet in front of you and go back?
There's ways to mind-game her, I've personally been able to do so even while making noise. Worse comes to worst, if you do one of the above and she comes out of phase next you, use Dead-Hard. That's a perk 99% of red-rank survivors use and it would prolong the chase for a good 10-20 seconds minimum. Or, you know, treat her like every other killer and try to 360 her. If she misses her phase she's a 110% basic attack killer for a while. Recommend playing as her for a while and then playing against her using your own mindset for what the Spirit is doing.

It's because survivors over think when the play against Spirit and make mistakes. If you get a survivor that understand how to play against her, trust me it's not easy. Most survivors are easy. They make stupid decisions. Even good survivors, it's like their brain just leaks out of their ears. But she does have counter play and there are survivors that can run from a good Spirit.
1 -
you used the best perks for her tho, if you want something more challenging you can use worse ones.
0 -
Sorry but does anyone realize that the Spirit is a female? She's not a male.
2 -
at this point people who keep defending spirit are either dumb or have a compeltely killer biased mentality(like tru3)
2 -
I know some survivor mains who likes to play against Spirit.
It's more so the mentality of people who won't learn to play against certain killers that are completely biased.
2 -
dude just stop with this narrative. its just stupid to say that people "don want to learn" to play against a certain killer. if there was something to do, survivors would have already discovered it, because its what they WANT. the problem is that there is literally nothing you can do versus a very good spirit, and thats a fact. bad spirits are totally counterable, but just because they're bad.
1 -
Yeah, that's just quitter's tallk
"There's nothing I can do with a good player."
Then get better. Unless you're admitting you're at the ceiling of your skill and because you keep losing to these specific killers, you're not willling to try to get any better and rather see those killers nerfed.
3 -
Idk most of the spirits I run into are pretty bad and don't give me much trouble, even without iron will. That's partly matchmaking fails ofc. Also I'm just used to playing against her because at one point 9/10 matches featured her.
Also this "only viable killer" stuff is nonsense

I know, right. I'm busting my ass just to get to 12.

Dude, I don't use the spirit for a long time, addons helped but don't work on the same level as a main spirit that has played it day after day for months.
In the whole game I will only have done 2 ~ 3 mind games (hide the red light), but now, from the rest I disappear, appear and hit.
First time I play it after its "nerf" but I didn't notice a new difficulty.

I'm not the most experienced player and maybe I haven't faced any godlike Spirits but honestly I have more trouble escaping Clowns and Doctors than her. I'm not saying that I escape her every time with ease but she doesn't feel that hard. Currently rank 2 on PC if that matters.
A few rules that I noted for myself:
- If I hear phasing I try to walk not to leave scratchmarks, usually to a side. It usually helps that she at least doesn't pop out on top of me. Doesn't work if injured but should with Iron will(I don't use it)
- When she's standing still I try to maintain or increase distance from her. Really, running towards her is the worst possible option. if she's faking she gets a hit, if she isn't she'll just follow you while phasing and your chances to get hit remain the same.
Usually that's enough.

Please, provide instructions on how to counter a Spirit in order to prove your point. I've played as her at rank 1 when I prestiged. So, I figure I have a good understanding on how to play as her when versing red rank squads.
I'm genuinely curious to hear what you think there's to learn, because I've heard the 'learn/adapt' argument being used liberally by both sides on a variety of topics. However, to this day, I've yet to hear anybody give an effective advice on how to counter a Spirit in a chase, or at least a Spirit who passes the sound check.

Honestly the only issue I have with Spirit is not actually being able to tell whether she's phasing or not during a chase. If we were able to have a clear indication she's using it, this would force people to not do the stand-still "mind-games", but still reward really good Spirit players who are able to end chases quickly with the phase. There are less guesses the survivors would have to make.
Right now, when the Spirit is chasing you, the survivors have to try and figure out 3 things:
- Is she standing still and faking her phase?
- Is she actually phasing?
- If she is actually phasing, where should I run?
I would MUCH rather only have to think about the last point. That in itself is enough of a mind-game, so removing the other things survivors have to worry about would make her much less stressful to go up against.
Yes she is strong, and I enjoy playing against her (it's a nice challenge), but it's not impossible to 4-man escape against a Spirit. Iron Will is a very common and popular perk. So is Spine Chill. Both them should give you enough of an advantage against a Spirit to have a good game. But regardless, if the person behind the Spirit is good enough, they will always get the 3-4k. Same goes for experienced Nurse players.

Have her actually bright up when phase is activating
