Host Connection

I'm quite new to the game so I'm unsure if this question is asked a lot so forgive me for asking but why is the killer the host? Why aren't there actual servers for this game since it is three years old. Why is it reliant on the killer as that enables lag switching from what I've seen on PC and also abysmal games when playing survivor if the killer has bad internet.

    I can’t answer why killer is host but probably because it be strange for one survivor to host to have 3 survivors join him and a killer would join and there could be other problems and there our no actual servers because they can’t afford it due to a contact with star breeze (I think, you would have to double check)

    HI, I saw this whilst I was just about to delete my forum account. It's exactly the reason why I've quit the game. I USED to play on both PS4 console and PC (whichever was available to me at the time). The amount of 'bad games' and people cheating using lag switchers gave me the push to say "bye-bye" to this game now. Unless dedicated servers were introduced I won't be back.

    I only logged on to have this forum account deleted but couldn't find the option and your post caught my eye (can a forum admin arrange for my account to be deleted please if you're reading).

    It is a peer to peer hosted connection. DBD does not have dedicated servers sadly. My hope is the money made from the store and new content and merchandise will fund them. Check the peer connection before you load in. if it is over 150ms i don't usually play unless lobbies times have been garbage than i will play 200ms.

    The lag switching is real sometimes but not always, some people do not use a hard line connection for the device(we hate these people btw) others have poor internet speeds to begin with, God help some of us that may need to contend with net neutrality and the internet providers potentially being able to prioritize connection. Some of the "lag switching" is the framerate. After the 2.0 update in June or July depending on your platform it has become abysmal.
